After playing demon's souls with a magic build and being annoyed at not being able to wear the cool armour or carry the big swords I went for a tank in Dark Souls.

So, all points into str and dex. People will tell you to bump stamina too but I didn't put much into that, preferring to become strong enough to wear the best armour and wield the biggest swords as soon as possible. Without stamina you need to be a bit nifty with the guard button - dropping your guard whenever possible to build your stamina back up.

    Have fun!

When the game first came out, with that build (the one I started with) was to get a stable shield, like the Hollow Shield from the various soldiers or the Knight's Shield near the Undead Church. And even with points on stamina instead of dexterty, the Capra Demon would still make mincemeat of you.

Yeah I got lucky with capra. Went in, panicked, rolled left and managed to get up top, backed up taking the dogs out and then did a couple of drop attacks on capra and he went down.

Only stray demon broke my build. Ended up shedding armour and using a fast small blade that caused bleeding to take that bastard down. Attacks were just too powerful. Needed to be able to escape attack range completely.

Stray demon...ah, the battle were I spent all my time facing his butt. Not exactly the most beautiful of the battles :P

haha, very true. Watching that bastard bleed was worth it though. Took me over 20 attempts I think, the longest of any demon in either game.

Me too, biggest boss butt ever. Not too close and not so far that it triggers his ranged attack.

I went for melee with decent strength ranged pyro, always trying to keep the balance between good Armour and normal speed rolling. Going toe to toe with the enemies is my favorite play style.

Would you not have been better off using a balloon and a bow?

I was going for a no-projectile run. Thwarted by a serpent mage's lightning attacks while crossing a guillotine-laden bridge that even with massive stability still knocked me off so I was forced to use a bow on him the bast! Anyway, up close and personal is how I like it.

Hehe I was thinking more along the lines of a story method for Press Start.

Bombs would have seen him off! He would have been the biggest piece of fruit ever!

Does anyone know if a Dark Souls (Xbox 360) save file works with the 'Prepare to Die Edition' disc?

                            Thanks.

Just got the Lord Vessel and want some pvp action? What's the easiest way to get it?

@Supergoal: haven't you got to complete Artorias of the Abyss DLC to unlock PvP?

@Bladerunner: can't see why not. It's exactly the same game with aforementioned DLC.
