The Blighttown shortcut is in the swamp, at the waterwheel. Ride it and constantly go up via ladders until you can get no further, to the right of the catwalk is a key you'll need and into the cave is the exit.

But for Blight town its a case of fighting enemies one by one instead of Leeroy Jenkins. About all enemies can be backstabbed and those blowdart pests don't return. I found Valley of Defilement to be much harder.

I'm sorry but demons souls was nowhere near as hard as this. All the standard enemies in demons souls were easy where as in thisbthey are so much more powerful and have loads more varations of attacks.

Gaping Dragon

. A guy in a thorn armor set with a barbed sword materialized just in front of me and I started swinging my sword, damaging it by half of his HPs even before he replied. The battle was short, he tried to pierce my shield but instead of defending I started swinging my sword again and here we have 8k souls and a brand new sword. The souls he left behind were enough for a level up, but the Black Knight sword was a bit too slow.

The first attempt I summoned the guy in gold armor from the Undead church and let him die; the Dragon went for me and immediately found easy to dodge even with heavy armor on, but then he grabs me and eats me.
Second try, down to1/3rd HPs and he flies right on top of me.
Third try, without heavy armor on and the Dragon could be easily outpaced without sprinting. Brandished my sword with two hands and found a way to have the Dragon follow the same pattern with minimal variation.

Blightown, though a...thing blocking an access at the end of the first wooden village killed me when I was trying to sprint past it.

Near tha point there's a second pit and nearby a blocked path, does it connect to the

Gah. Wiped with 6k souls and 3 humanity today. I stupidly tried to block with a crossbow equipped. Serves me right I guess. Wasn't even a hard enemy, just a bunch of minor ones. I was in a hurry to get back to my dropped souls and rushed through an area. Being in a hurry is NEVER a good idea in this game.

Never. PS3 version. Sometimes there are some hicchups with the game blocking for a second but I think it's due to network activity.

had another try at this and have now got stuck again...but at least I am enjoying it now in summary, incase anyone can see anything obvious I have not done...

Headed to Undead Burg, have beaten the knight down the stairs and got the blue ring, have gone down the stairs in the tower to be killed by the stone looking knight x 10, have killed the Taurus demon, moved on and used the cheats way of getting the Drake Sword. I then died via Rat bites in the tunnel after sniping the drakes tail. Only now when I head back and try and get back down the stairs on the bridge the Drake insta kills me with fire so I cant get back down. So headed back to the shrine and into the ruins and got killed by ghosts and I assume heading into the Drake Valley (I think its called) would be a mistake?? What am I missing experts?

Also, have 2 chunks of Tanzanite, one from the knight and one from killing a strange glowing tortoise I found in a dark corner, the blacksmith in the ruins wants tanzanite shards not chunks tho so cant upgrade my weapons. Are shards a seperate item or does something need to be done to the chunks to turn them to shards??

All that is from a late night memory tho so some of the terms/names may be a little wrong...gotta say the Drake sword is awesome tho, so much easier re killing the small enemies after each death

The dragon shouldn't insta kill you, try rolling through the fire. You need to go back down to where the rats are.

Those 2 archers...what the f**k. They just feel totally broken.

First part of the game where I've had something I can't do and thought "right, that's it for the night".

Edit: Got past that part, wasn't THAT hard once I figured it out but it's still incredibly cheap and artificially hard IMHO.

I feel unstoppable! Just found the blacksmith. Massive knight shows up and I took him out with ease. Then a black phantom called:

BigNickDigga

Invades me. Fight was over in seconds. Seriously, why invade someone if you have no idea what you're doing! Got enough souls to level up off him.

I know the game will own me again soon but tonight I have gone to bed feeling like I can kill anything that moves! That Drake sword is damn nice!

Anybody playing this completely blind and without asking for help/looking at the wikis? Can't imagine playing this in such a hardcore manner, it's tough enough with all the advice you can get anyway!

I am. I only really used the wiki to help me pick a starting class.

It's probably why everyone else is finding the game a bit easier than me but I wouldn't have it any other way. Currently at 34 hours and stuck in blighttown. Have no overpowered sword or anything to help me, just a longsword +3.

The Drake Sword is great for the early part of the game but its uses are coming to an end for me. The weapon cannot be upgraded with the standard items and it also doesn't level with your stats. I've been finding plenty of good weapons but they all require way too much stength.

Also haven't found any good armour for hours! Bah.

was just a regular enemy but he's disappeared now. He was well easy. Been putting everything into str and end. Level 16 now. Still got no proper armour. Nothing on my arms or legs, got a hollow warrior helmet though and a knights shield I found.

Lastly I'm out of humanity and the rats aren't dropping. Any tips?
