I think I'll switch back to the BKS and maybe grind for strength. I've got Gavel's ring, which has boosted my capacity, hence the heavy armour. I've heard the Giant's Armour sold by the smith is really good once upgraded?
Not sure I want to risk wasting humanity (things are so damn rare) on summoning when I might not make it...
Equip a Spear and shield, the easiest way is to kill Ornstien first becuase Smough is very easy on his own as you can just use a broken pillar to keep his distance from you.
Stay locked onto Ornstien at all times and a simply take your time, attacking whenever theres an opening, it could take a while to kill him but if you keep your distance from them both and just attack when there is an opening you should find the fight alot easier than it first appears.

Did it in the end. Emptied out all my Soldier/etc souls to help grind a few levels of strength. Ornstein went down in 6 hits. Then spammed Smough with arrows while he was stuck on a pillar. Had a freak out moment when on his final sliver of health he dislodged and came for me, and on instinct I clicked L1 for my shield, except it put me in first person for the bow. Managed to get out of it and, after some Benny Hill style running away, popped the final arrow in him.
Got the Lordvessel, returned to Firelink Shrine, and now I have no idea where to go or what to do. I really don't like this overworld set-up.

But basically you just need to go to all the areas you haven't been in any order you like now to obtain the four boss souls you need to open the door to the final boss. I would recommend the dukes archives in Anor Londo first.Last edited by rmoxon; 18-02-2012, 07:50.

Well, I guess you COULD stand back and let someone else kill them... But I doubt that's what most people do. 9/10 people I summon are sh*t and I just use them as a distraction while I whittle away some health, and they're dead in about 30 seconds if that. The only boss I really used summons for was Ornstein and Smough and there was no way I was doing that by myself being a melee class. It took me 3 goes with summoning 2 people. I hated that boss fight. Four Kings I did myself though. I'm coming up to Ornstein and Smough on NG+hopefully being a much higher level will even the odds a bit even if they are quite a bit more powerful...

Got off to a bad start with this a few months back. Demon's Souls was the best game I'd played in years, and it took over my life for months, so I expected to instantly gel with Dark Souls. Maybe I wasn't in the right mood for it at the time and after getting repeatedly butchered by the Taurus Demon (a relatively simple boss) I tuned out. But now I am in the mood for it and I started it again at the weekend. Taurus Demon done in 2 goes and the game is opening up beautifully. I love how many really dangerous foes are just lurking about. It's awesome.

I wish I could erase my memory of the game and play it again!
