Well, let's start by getting the bad out of the way. This game IS NOT HD. The graphics look no better than the Dreamcast game running through VGA, IMO. Now that's out of the way, let's get on to the good stuff.
First up is that this game still kicks arse. Put it on last night and played it solid for almost 3 hours!! That's a long time for a game of this type. The arcade mode is pretty much as it was on the Dreamcast so not much change there. The main game change is the addition of the true 16.9 screen mode (sorry, in work at the moment and don't have the game to check what it's called). G.Rev have taken half of the screen and magically made it in to wide screen. Ray Force did this too but that was a mess with the top of the image missing. G.Rev have actually tweaked this mode in order to make it play very well. there's no missing enemies half off the screen and no enemies just suddenly appearing out of nowhere. They've really done a good job with the translation. Not only have they done wonders with the screen but also tweaked the game play. You helicopter can now rotate a much wider field, almost letting you fire horizontally across the screen.
If you still own the DC version then this remake may not be worth buying unless you are a real hardcore Under Defeat fan. The extra art galleries don't really make it a must purchase.
Still a fantastic game though!
