Having said that I still think you can see the best ending with readniness at 50%. But to do this you have to complete most of the side missions and do a crap load of scanning.
Apperently there is 1 scene in the ending which cannot be achieved in single player even after rinsing 100%of everything.
You must play online according to everyone on bioware's forums to see this scene.

      Is it an important scene?

Some quests actually tell you the system to check, but these are at 100% and I still can't hand the quest in.

        Bah.
The journal is basically terrible and doesn't tell you what you have to do next in any specific quest. I had to resort to using a guide plenty of times (a bit easier when playing on PC, but presumably a bit of a pain if playing on console). Whenever I thought a quest was bugged because I appeared to have already fulfilled the objective, it was basically just the journal being completely useless.

I finished up not bothering with the journal.

Besides the citidel fetch quests all your missions are helighted on the galaxy map, so i just looked there when deciding what to do next. The Journal was just a waste of time in this.

Yes I agree the journal is awful, but I've searched every system to 100% and then re-searched everywhere on the citidel but cannot complete about 15 quests. I'll give it another go tonight.

As much as I'm enjoying the game - though not as much as ME2 or ME1 - the quest log is possibly the most useless I've ever seen in a game.

Is it possible that you might actually already have the item, but haven't then returned to the relevent person on the Citidel? Happened to me a few times.

You'd of thought a company with a long RPG heritage like Bioware would have thought to include an updating journal log.

                Yep.
In Mass Effect and Mass Effect 2

Anyway, is anyone else liking the multiplayer?
I must've put some serious hours into it recently, as I do usually like horde mode type games, though never cared for it in Gears of War 3 strangely enough. But I'm liking the biotic powers twist to it. Admittedly, I didn't think multiplayer would be much cop when I first heard about it (I didn't play the beta) but it's strangely addicting.

Though I hate farming coin for Spectre packs (as it's the only ones I go for) since I get bob all for decent weapon/ upgrade/ character drops.

Yep brilliant stuff. Prob already been said and I have not yet played Mass Effect 3, 2 or 1 for that matter but still want to play 3 as sounds good bar the ending and small things. Just seen AngryJoe on You Tube 10 reasons why we hate Mass Effect 3's ending. Wow it was so bad! I`d be annoyed if that's what they gave me at the end. Still wanna play Mass Effect 3 to see the choices before these awful endings. It really was worse than I thought. No wonder people are up in arms. Nightmare stuff which makes no sense at all.

I posted this in another thread here, but...

one key bit that irks me is when the god child says the reapers were created because the "creator is always destroyed by the created" - in this case, organics were destined to be destroyed by the synthetics. So they created the reapers (who are synthetic) to destroy all organics, this preventing them from being destroyed by the synthetics (except the reapers, apparently!). And yet...just a single mission before, Shepard proves this wrong by suceeding in uniting the Quarians and the Geth (the synthetics created by the Quarians who then rebelled against them). This proves that organics are not necessarily destined to be destroyed by synthetics, that was pretty much the entire point of that chapter of the story. Shepard's own experience disproves the little god child's theory... and yet Shepard just passively accepts this rather than contradicting him by citing his own experience mere hours before?! The game contradicts itself, and the writers seem to have forgotten their own plot

                  .

Also, how exactly do you increase your readiness rating from 50%? Does it involve multiplayer shenanigans? If so, I fear my readiness rating will forever be at 50%.
Nearly lost me in the spoiler bits ending decision is so mind boggling. I think this is all to do with future DLC I guess.

Is it possibly they will patch the awful quest log in the future to include % complete etc? Or is this impossible do you think? I heard in Mass Effect 2 the quest log worked fine.

i havent finished the game myself but i'd have thought that all the ending scenes would be important.

finishing everything in the single player brings you up slightly short in points, i dont know if this is an oversight on bioware's side or this was meant but bioware's official statement was that you can achieve the best ending without playing mp but according to the hundreds of replies on the official forums you cannot.

What's the level cap? I've got I think level 35 or 38 from 1 and going to do two next then three. Take it scales with mobs for your level?

Even if you import a character your level is reset at the start of 2.

Your level in 3 continues from 2 though, The level cap in 2 is 30, and the cap in part 3 is 60.

The mobs dont scale as far as I know. 3 Is just a bit harder than 2.

Randomly last night my War Readiness popped back up from 0% to 50% which means I'm back in the middling zone for the heading I'm moving towards, it's given me a new sense of hope and spurred me on to play it more. I'm just going to come out and say it, I can see where the 8/10 scores are coming from. It is a great, fun game but it's outright inferior to ME2 thanks to Biowares rushed silly alterations.

I'm going to ask a stupid n00b question...

I tried to play ME so that I could import a character to ME2.

I got so bored of it though that I gave up after a few hours, consequently I never played ME2. Do I need to force myself to play through the first one if I want to enjoy ME2 and 3?

                            Comment

Nope. Just do it. Actually the first one is my personal favourite, because it was less like a shooter, and had more RPG elements. However 2 and 3 are good shooters, and I can understand that some people want to skip the first one, because the latter two where more streamlined and actually better to play.

I had the same issue with ME1 so was wary of ME2 but it's brilliant and doesn't require the original to have been played first. I'm going to treat ME1 as a clunky prequel once 3 is done and retry it now I'm more invested.
