It has aim assist like Halo (the reticule slows down as it passes over enemies) and depending on which weapon it is, they also have bullet magnetism, so bullets actually bend towards the enemy.
Console games really do need it though, playing Halo without these thinsg is super hard unless you are on LAN, in which case I can just about deal with it.

You could probably get away with it being off/low in gears, as the characters move very slow and have giant heads.

Multiplayer wise I am really enjoying this Halo. I racked up 34 kills last night on big team battle, my highest kill count ever. I like the Promethan Vision as a battle enhancement, it helps get the first BR/DMR burst drop on fools and once you have the first drop its pretty much goodnight! I am loving the Exile map for big team and Haven for swat. Not played any of the extra maps though, is one of the download maps a tweak on the pit from Halo 3? The speed boost move is the most pointless add on ever, am I right? Ordnance drop is a very good idea, depending on what is happening you can equip accordingly. I also like how hand grenades are not automatically collected from the dead. Games are less of a grenade fest and more about gun play, although I still carry my stickys around religiously.
Regarding the Promethan enemies in Campaign they are the worst Halo enemy so far I think. I have no real issue killing them but I gain no satisfaction from doing so. The flying enemies that respawn and shield others are extremely lazy character and game design, they just feel cheap.
Despite the above the Campaign itself is better then Reach imo, it feels like Halo 1 in its scale and I think I may even prefer it to Halo 3 and 2. The story is a bit crap though.

I'm glad to see they dialled back the grunts and their hilarious voices, but I found the Promethean enemies pretty boring
