Hey, even the Saturn analogue controller had analogue triggers. In fairness, Sony only got with the programme with the PS3, but it seems bizarre that they would fail to include them - this will hinder any racers that may appear on the format.

Yes, I forgot about that pad.

Not many developers outside of certain Gamecube titles really took advantage of them, but when they did it was magic. Analog air-breaking in GX was genius, as was the vacuum cleaner in 'Mansion.

I really hope for a PRO pro controller. Just make it a Wavebird with an extra z-button. Done.

Dual Shock 2 had analog buttons anyway.

16 year old tech, let's just throw it out the Window!

5+ years of the Wii already made me forget F-Zero, don't think Nintendo will change my attitude.

Has anyone tried the LAN adapter with this? Still cannot get a solid signal unless it's in the same room as the router, and switching rooms just to go online is not something I plan on doing!

I'm using the LAN adapter and works perfectly fine. Just need to set a new manual connection and select wired instead of wireless and you're good to go

Literally every single thing I hear about the Wii U makes it sound unbearably poor. Nobody has said anything that's made me think 'I'd like to experience that', nevermind 'I'd like to shell out over 300 quid to experience that'. I'm disappointed in Nintendo, but not at all surprised.

And yet the reality couldn't be the further from the truth ...

To coin a phrase .... 'You have to see if for yourself' .... So take the red pill and see how far down the rabbit hole you end up.

Had a go on one today. Mate just had Nintendoland but that's all I've wanted to play on it anyway. Forced nonsense tutorial drove me utterly Bahamas. So much so that I don't even feel like correcting that word back there.

Controller is all kinds of loveliness. You can see how the machine is encoding the video output as it looks like a divx or something and, just like a divx, red stuff like text goes all blocky. Still, when they flicked over to the Xbox and I got to carry on playing, that was tops. The speakers are lovely, too, and it feels like there's a 3D(or at least a wide stereo) effect.

I played that boring Metroid shooting one but Donkey Kong was hilarious and great fun. The noise it makes when you die sounds like a neck being broken

One problem was the controller kept insisting I hold it vertically which I didn't like. Another issue I had was the game didn't tell me the Yoshi game needed the telly, although I expext it's mentioned in the instructions.

Didn't fiddle much with the menus or do anything outside the game itself so can't comment on those.

Despite the foibles, I definitely felt the Nintendo magic. And, blimey, the graphics!

Do Wii U games even come with instructions?

Both Nintendoland and Mario come with coloured instructions. Nintendoland even has a "Notes" section in the end. The Mario one doubles as a world map.

A small irk of mine is the wording on the Home menu. Both the option for closing the menu, and for closing the active application start with the word "Close", so I have accidentally hit the first one I see a couple of times, and done the opposite of what I wanted.

Are they more than four pages though, because otherwise they don't count.

Thanks, will see if I can grab one locally, or I see that Amazon have stock.

They are in Full color. In Pal land. And you expect them to have more than 4 pages too?

Anyway you're another one in this first play thread being negative about the machine when you don't have one, yet nearly everyone who does have one absolubtley loves the console. Maybe you should listen to the people who have one when they say it's great?

They must do. How else will people know not to put the discs in their mouths?
