A year or 2 ago i would have bet my house on them going for this massively powerful super console but now im not so sure. Sony cannot really go down the super console route because they do not have the cash for it.

Plus anything costing ?450+ before any games really is a serious amount of money. As for the Mario game, well for someone like me who hasn't played one for a good few years im absolutely loving the new Mario game, i can honestly say its the most fun i have had in ages. I cant put the thing down lol.
Well you are not. For me the value comes from paying for the game, the game which you buy is worth the outlay, the machine cannot be seen as good value at ?300 for what you are getting purely on a technical level.

If the cohen brothers only ever released movies on dvd and charged far more than what you would pay for bluray, would that make them value? Good movies yeah, but value?

BUT...If you are happy with the games then nobody can tell you you have payed too much or made a mistake, but for me personally.....its not enough.

Not the games its shipped with, and yes i have spent time at a mates house with a WiiU, nor the hardware itself.

Anyway i dont want to drag the thread down any further, to be fair to all the early adopters who are enjoying themselves.

Just dont want to hear about "why are peeople being negative", because people have reason to be, and this is a forum^^

Really ... Because if I had bought a PS3 at launch I most certainly would have felt robbed, I bought one second hand for ?100 about three years after launch and I still feel robbed. I have used the WiiU in tha last couple of days more than I have used my PS3 in the last year.

The thing is I know the WiiU isn't exactly 'next gen' it isn't exactly old or current gen either though, the hardware IS more powerful than current gen , if only just. I am not paying for that, I am paying for a console which is a true successor to the Wii. I wasn't gushing the praises of the Wii at launch, but then we didn't know it was going to turn out be the 'casual' console that it did.

My Wii hardly ever got used, not because I didn't like the games, because I couldn't stand play games in 480p that really annoyed the hell uot of me.

All I know is I am enjoying the WiiU experience so far, will it last? Who knows, nobody knows that, and that's the same for ANY console (or handheld for that matter).

As stated the fact you are calling the WiiU a 'novelty' console proves that you haven't actually spent any time with it, as otherwise you would know better than that. My 'novelty' console can play Black Ops 2 with decent twin analogue pad (Pro or Gamepad), that's more than the PS3 ever managed.

I'm still waiting for enough exclusives I want before I get a PS3.

They will have tons of "by the numbers" FPS/racing/3rd person action games though. That's all I see 95% of the time. Some of them have pretty graphics thanks to this wonderful tech. They all lack when it comes to game play however, every last stinking one of them. If it wasn't for being able to replay classics on XBLA I wouldn't even have an Xbox, probably.

I don't know what you're talking about. Lube?

Yeah, it's a shame. I really wanted one before they were released. I suppose people are more than happy with their phones. I'll still get one in a few years, maybe. I sat on Ridge Racers for five years before anything else took my fancy. I'm not doing that again.

Did you already rinse the f**k out of Ridge 6 and Ridge Racers, prior? Or was it just another impulse purchase?

I'd never buy a console, not even a Nintendo console, for one game unless I was hardcore-obsessed about the particular title. I'd never think about even starting Bayonetta 2, let alone buying a console to play it, if I've not Pure Platinum'd every part of Non-Stop Infinite Climax on Bayo 1 first.

And i'm glad you are happy, but then you were happy with john carter.
Yes. Me and most of the other 20 people on the planet who actually bothered to watch it enjoyed it a lot.

Kinda like how the people who have actually played a WiiU seem happy with the console. For most part the only people who are complaining are the ones who are trying to justify not buying the console.

The fact is its a great console (you know... For playing games on) and anyone who likes playing games should have one.

Given Bluray sales have grown massively over the years I would imagine its more than 20

Don't you need to own the Hardware and games before you can say that ?. There's plenty of great PS3 games really

Well as with all novelty of course the experience is pleasant to begin with...i suspect however when the screen-on-pad novelty wears thin and becomes the norm, its shortcomings will become ever more apparent, and people will do a WiiU-turn.

                  Anywayyyyy.

I will return to this thread in about 18 months and see what the opinion is, i hope i am proven wrong, because i love many of nintendo's games...maybe not as much as i once did, but still.

Who knows maybe zelda will arrive in that time and blow us all away, and make second screen gaming absolutely essential....but then maybe bayonetta 2 will sell like **** and the 3rd party support will dry up?

Who knows. For me personally its **** value....especially when i've got loads of quality wii games i havent even finished properly because i couldnt be arsed with the controls, which i was an advocate of initially.

I guess the wii made me cynical...hopefully i can be proved wrong like i was when i thought the wiimote was a good idea.

So everyone who's watched john carter has enjoyed it? well i'll be damned i must have been watching mary poppins, me and every person who's panned it.

As for trying to justify not buying a WiiU thats easy when nintendo do all the work for me... crazy premium price, let down hardware, and only one good original game which is probably the only one for the next 6-12 months knowing nintendo.

Still plenty of weak ports to look forward to mind!

The screen on the pad is far from a novelty. Beyond the comveinance of being able to actually play games on the pad, it has already been shown that the touch screen can add greatly to the gameplay when done well. ZombiU would be an amazing game anyway, but the touch screen just makes it even better, helping both the atmosphere and adding features that actually improve the gameplay further still.

The Pad is a genius piece of hardware that will actually improve gameplay.

Im simply stating that some people are complaining about the WiiU launch, but it's a better launch than the PS3 had by far. It already has great games, and a few of the are exclusive.
PS3 launched with Motorstorm (84 on metacritic) and RFOM (86 on metacritic). I don't really like metacritic but it's all we have. Zombi U is sitting at 75. So, the PS3 launch was better than the Wii U because it had better exclusive titles in addition to being an HDMI equipped HD console that could play blu-rays and upscale DVDs. It bested all previous consoles in every department. It could play DVD Audio discs, Super Audio CD, had slots for digital camera memory cards, had gigabit Ethernet and wifi built in and optical out. Sony threw in everything AND produced two great launch titles. Now, it sounds to me like the Zombi U average on metacritic is well off but that doesn't change the fact that RFOM and Motorstorm were both great games that really showed with next generation HD consoles can do. The launch of PS3 was in a completely different league to the Wii U launch. I'm going to get a WiiU and I'm expecting some great games for it, from Nintendo AND third parties but let's not delude ourselves that this launch was better than PS3's.

Not really. I can't think of a single exclusive (besides Ridge and DS) that could satisfy me for longer than 20hrs. I can see what I'm not missing by playing on other people's consoles or store demos, and outside of that I can easily tell how a game will play by watching videos.

How to put this politely... Stuff your Metacritic, FSW!

Fallout 3 is rated higher (and is one of the highest rated games ever despite being poop) than Fallout: New Vegas that's proof enough that Metacritic sucks a***. Oh and FFXIII sits at 83.

I need to save this for later quotation! ^^

                            Its 2006 all over again.

Can we keep other consoles out of it please? We've don't need another one of these discussions.

The trouble is its difficult to keep other hardware out of the discussion...when hardware is released at a premium cost, it will obviously garner such comparison.

Especially when on the topic of value.
