I got up to where you are now with my hardcore character. I've not been back since for fear of dying, there's just too much on the line.

On my last play I was cornered with four zombies staggering in for the kill. With nothing left other than my gun I got it out and then jammed the stick far-left whilst randomly spamming the trigger, to my utter astonishment all four of them dropped like sacks of **** as I'd scored four head shots in under a second with my remaining four bullets. Only my niece saw it, and I don't think she understood the hype as I was jumping up shouting "WOOHOO! YES!! Did you see that?? You're not even meant to be playing the game like that!!1".

Maybe I should just kill him off and start again normally.

I only got aorund 2 hour in on the setting above hard and really enjoyed what i played. Felt like what a zombie game should be, dark, bleak, and every inch of progress you make in uncharted territory felt like a massive achievement.

Enjoyed playing it with my pal with one person watching the screen like a hawk and me rummaging in the back pack. need to get round to playing more one day.

Starting to find this a little frustrating now. Got out to a place in the rain, killed a few zombies, went to loot their corpses and another came out of nowhere and killed me. Was a bit careless to spend time in a place with poor visibility. Make the journey back and kill my previous guy, use my radar and head into a room. A zombie is dead ahead so I have a quick glance around and then attack her but someone else comes from behind and kills me. Obviously I didn't see them and they must not have been active to show up on the radar. Make the journey back again and now on top of my previous survivor that same room has three more zombies now and I die in a few moments.

I feel like each bit of progress I make is so insignificant that I could be playing this for decades and might have moved about 100 feet.

Last time I posted here was June. Decided to go back to this after that break and then got a little further and then died from a zombie creeping up behind me from a place I had cleared out. And I was brought back to yhe frustration I had faced before. Finally admitting defeat, I went to the options to see if it was possible to drop down the difficulty mid-game because I'm not sure I have it in me to start again. But no, no option for that.

So back out to the main menu. Maybe I will start from scratch on easy. But... seems there is no easy. Is this right? Is there no easier difficulty level in this game?

There is a "chicken" mode on the PS4 version...choose normal mode then it gives you the difficulty option. Surely the wiiu version is the same?

You're right. Just went googling and it turns out you have to delete your current progress before it gives you the option. There is no normal 'new game' option. So I might delete what I've done and start again on chicken.

Just started this tonight. Overall, I enjoyed it, though a few things stuck out.

                1) First time I died was

                going into the supermarket.

What was a bit anoying is the guiding voice bloke yelled "GET INSIDE! NOW!", and I ran into the door and smack bang into a zombie. This, in itself, wasn't an issue - what was annoying is that as I died, the voice said "You'd be alive if you did what I told you" - I JUST DID THAT AND GOT KILLED YOU GAFDGEQRHQAEG VOICE

                2) I got attacked by a zombie adjacent to me that didn't show up when I pinged the radar. Not one of the ones on the floor either, this one was on her feet. If the game's going to present rules (use the radar) then break them for the sake of scripting (the radar doesn't work) then that's a bit crap.

                3) I almost got killed getting into the manhole cover because of the interface which asks if you want to use it, and you have to tap the gamepad to progress.

Those slight narks aside, I did like what I played. It is, really, a proper zombie survival game, not a half-arsed shooter with a Left4Dead vibe.

It is most definitely survival horror and wins a lot of points for going all out on that, I think.
