Well just finished first play through on Normal. I loved every minute of it. Great story, in fact, I didn't want it to end!!!

Will Multiplayer a try, but for me I will probably jump straight back in

Best game this year by a mile, roll on Naughty Dog's PS4 output.

Well, that's the story finished. What a ballsy ending!!

Loved every second of it. The story was very well told, graphics, sound and atmosphere were fantastic!

Couple of niggly AI moments (I don't get why I have to be sneaky quiet but Ellie can stomp about near Clickers) other than that it was truly sublime.

Certainly the best game I've played this year (and maybe the last couple) and unless Beyond is truly spectacular I can see this being my GotY.

End credits rolling for me. Anyone giving this less than 10/10 is out of their mind, IMO. One of the best games ever, no doubt.

The ending was superb too. Hope and deceit rolled into one. The character development is incredible

especially when Ellie refers to enemies as 'assholes' and the game has pointed out the fact that Joel and Ellie are probably worse people.

It was never difficult but when I did die I relished the opportunity to complete a section using a different method. Much like Crysis 3 in that respect (though this is much better obviously).

This gen is ending on some serious high notes. Beyond and GTA5 to come!

This game is so so so much better than Uncharted and just goes to highlight further how limited that franchise was. A couple of us have been discussing it at length in the last few days and we have been playing it quite differently to each other. Mark of a well made game.

Care to give some examples of how it is better than Uncharted? Not saying it isn't as I think it is a fantastic title but I think Uncharted and this go in different directions. If Uncharted is the Michael Bay film meets Indiana Jones of games, The Last of Us is definitely The Road meets Children of Men.

              Indeed.

              They are very different.

Having said that, as good as the Last Of Us is, it's not quite as magical as Uncharted 2.

Because Uncharted was a completely mindless experience. It required little thought to play and did nothing to really excite me as a gamer despite the fancy cinematic style.

The Last of Us has kept me completely gripped from the start. I have actually been nervous and scared of dying which is something I never experienced in Uncharted. It has also caused me to panic on several occasions and caused me to patiently wait to plan out actions. Fantastic stuff.

The problem I found with Uncharted as that while it was good fun, it was unrewarding for me as a gamer. The Last of Us has rewarded me so far in terms of the wonderful cinematic feel and also a brilliant core gameplay experience.

Big lols at the 10/10's; a 10 means no room for improvement and i can think a fair few things; from the jaggy graphics, ropey AI (in both squad and enemies), to long load times and linear funnelled gameplay. Multiplayer launches you into unbalanced team matchmaking, more long load times, bullets that dont seem to connect all the time and a painful upgrade system. Naughty dog have been a bit naughty in pushing out a clearly unfinished product....some of you guys are very easily pleased.

A ten isn't no room for improvement.

I have beaten the game and this is leaps and bounds above Uncharted. The AI has issues but its still better than Uncharted, they do flank you. And what about the sounds of the guns, organic cover and the reloads. Its much more tense. I love the multiplayer as well. If you want ammo to be scarce you'll need to play on the higher difficulties. They don't buff the enemies but they reduce the ammo drops and resources forcing you to play more careful.

But ultimately its more about the emotional journey and character development and ND delivered big time here. I ended up feeling attached to the characters and I was impressed by its conclusion. I've been rationalizing the ending since. Its a good moral question.

I only started to rate the game Triple A tier once I got past the Fall section. If you honestly still don't find it to be amazing at that point, then its just not entirely for you.

For me the AI is no better than Uncharteds, replaying areas really highlights how simple the set up is. In a given area of 4-6 enemies at least half that are on a pre-programmed loop unless you enter sight or make a noise in which case they bee-line to you. The others are programmed to skirt towards you slowly regardless of your approach. By about 40% through the pattern of the enemies was so clocked the suspense died and the game became a push over, even the hit detection is pretty much the same as in Uncharted but the slower pace off sets it somewhat and makes people forgive it more.

I kind of envy those who can shut out or not notice the games flaws and get absorbed into its world as in many ways its clearly a very well produced and crafted game, but for me, gameplay wise its basic and flawed in ways a current gen game shouldn't be let alone being on the verge of next gen. A sum of its parts experience.

I was down to one more hit until I died

in the garage where you are ambushed by hunters. I had one hunter grabbed, protecting me from the other 2 left that had aim with shotguns. I walked backwards hoping to find cover when I just got behind some and he broke free, I smashed his face off the cover and the 2 others broke up and tried to flank me. I jump out a window and aimed my bow at what I thought was head height waiting for a head to come through the door and boom, an arrow through his cheek when he stepped out.

Then I turned and the last guy had already jumped out the window behind me, he went in for the grab but Ellie stabbed him in the back which enabled me to smash his skull with my nice, flat 4x4.

. I am so glad this game has picked up and I have sightly more freedom to approach situations now. No matter how much better this game gets it is not a 10 for me though, I get the feeling it is an 8 so far and the remainder has to be something truly amazing to bump it to 9.

You might say I am mad but I think this game owes quite a bit to man hunt when killing humans. I loved Manhunt!

By your grading a ten is therefore unattainable no?

I gave it an 8...really enjoyed it but things like noisy clod hopping ai partners running around unbothered by enemies really hurt it for me. Plus the main action sequences go on too long and throw the scavenge/scarce ammo rules away

especially the dangling upside down bit...my revolver with 3 bullets did well to kill seemingly endless waves of clickers...plus the sniping section was just as overlong

Another thing I didn't quite like was the ending

when ellie asks if what you told her was true...I'd have liked the option of giving her both answers even if it still faded straight out

But generally it was excellent and despite covering every inch (or so I thought) I missed firefly tags a guide book, 2 shiv doors and lots of conversations/jokes...will go into NG+ when the trophies are patched as i never got the comics one despite finding them all but did get the gold for finding absolutely everything (my profile shows I found 144 of 141 items)

I don't mind the long loading times gives me ten minutes to play animal crossing
