Giant Winged Queen Ants turn a humble tunnel into a deathly jizz volcano with my complacent corpse ragdolling around it!

Also...weapon count is now revised...it is a least 7 variants of the 7 categories!

Hit a bit of a wall on level 36...you seem to randomly get 1 hit killed no matter how well you are doing in damaging the mothership....might have to wuss out onto easy til my armour is more meaty.

I'm up to stage 53 now. The flying ship stages piss me off but now I have anoter whole new enemy to kill who hasn't been arounf yet in the game.

Any tips on taking the massive ship on lv36 out Yakumo?

Have done the first bit with breaking the hinge and shooting the central globe....then the legs/cannons come down. have killed all those too...then it just pummels me with purple blobs!

Do you have to take every spinning section out or shoot the main glowing panels? The added fighters that dont seem to drop any health either so eventually the red lazers chip away my health to zero!

So I've played through the first 42 missions or so, yep it's EDF and it's fun as hell Having a blast with it and enjoying the classes though I'm mostly concentrating on Ranger for the minute. It's a bit sad they've locked the vehicles away under the air raider but apart from that the classes are a nice addition. They all seem pretty good (and Pale Wing/Wing Diver is as cool as always) but I think the Fencer will take the most getting used to. He's pretty heaving/slow, like the Battle Armour from IA but a bit slower though you can dash with certain weapons equipped. After the patch I only had one crash and I think that was basically because I've been on the PS3 most of the day and it's bloody roasting. Of course the framerate continues to be terrible at points. For a new game I suppose I should be horrified but it's such a part of EDF now I can't help but chuckle even if do wish it was better.

                As for enemy variety

For the first 36 - 37 missions or so it slowly ramps up with the good ol classic enemies. Ants, Hectors, ships etc and a new enemy type that drags you into its web that can be a right pain in the arse. Then it starts introducing more enemies like wasps, different flying ships and I've seen a new Hector type too. I'm only on mission 43 though so I'm not sure how much this continues through the rest of the levels

I do love the way the enemies blow apart into bits now when using explosives, it's just so satisfying to see a robots arm or an ants head go flying

This caught me off guard too. Basically:

Concentrate on the bottom middle globe of the ship. You've got the right idea but you don't really need to shot the legs, cannons etc. Just shoot the middle part, run around when it goes up and then start shooting it again when it comes down. You'll have to do this numerous times. Keep doing this until you've beaten it

this was an odd one that had me stuck for ages. In the end I just used the mostly powerful bazooka that I had at the time and [HIDE]kept blasting the center laser thing while moving about. Eventually it exploded and the mission was cleared. I was using a ranger by the way[/HIDE]. I'm up to level 56 now or was it 54? either way the preview picture shows the shadow of an enemy. A new monster?

Has anyone been able to confirm if the 360 version is region locked?

Cheers lads...I thought the spoilered bit was dealt with!

I went back and did the first few levels on HARD so now have a few level 18-20 weapons which should help. One other note for HARD is that the armour pick ups are worth the same as on NORMAL. Must be the character you are using that affects it...roughly 2boxes = 1 for a Ranger and its about 4/5boxes = 1 for a Wing Diver I think..

Also Mr Woo...if you are on PS3 I am available for co-op quite a lot...as long as carrying my dead weight is ok with you

Had a quick blast of the game before I head out as it's just arrived this morning, all feels good to me! Shame it's came just as I'm about to go away for two weeks with work tomorrow, but I'll get stuck in proper when I get back.

Played the first 5 levels the other night and will hopefully play more tonight. Started off with the soldier but switched to the Winged Diver. Climbing high then swooping down over Japanese towns is wonderful. The game looks great and I'm enjoying experimenting with the weapons.

I'll check 360 region status tonight.
