Online seems fairly stable now - if still quite slow to get in and out of events - and (contrary to my earlier grumpy remarks) it works really well and is a lot of fun. Races and various low-level MP repo/drug-running missions are excellent. Firefights and fisticuffs not quite so satisfying; feels just as loose as in SP. Endless chances for mayhem, though. At the moment I'm enjoying finding players caught in firefight with cops, strolling into chaos, killing the players and stealing their loot. As other players can mug you at any time there's a sense of urgency/paranoia to get your dosh safely into the bank ASAP. Money and levelling doesn't seem too slow. Got to lvl 7 in about an hour, which unlocked SMG. Microtransactions don't appear to have wrecked the game at the early stages, then, although you are prompted to buy real money whenever you inadvertently overspend. I imagine people will get lost for months in this. For me it'll be a decent diversion for a while.

Edit: recommend being a hot female in a mini-skirt as it seems to distract dudes into staring at your ass for a split second when you get out of your car, by which time you've deaded 'em.

Edit2: the way they've integrated all comms with NPC/mission-givers and other players into the mobile phone is very clever (even down to insta-friendly invites) and works brilliantly. Took me ages to find out how to open the damn inventory menu, though, as I lost track in all the info that gets slung at you. Anyway, it's hold 'select' (not the quick-tap for camera change)...for anyone wondering.

Not for me, I tried a lot last night and quite a bit more this morning, I deleted my cache and update data, created new characters, still cant get into that first race, I actually did complete the race the first day it was up but then my save file apparently corrupted and I needed to make a new character a few times before it started to hold the character data again.. :/

What platform are you on and how did it work for you?

^ I'm on ps3 and it's been solid (albeit slow) since yesterday evening. So slow getting into/out of events, sometimes, that I thought machine might have frozen, but it never did. Had no trouble with save corruption so far.

All servers I log into have nobody in them. Wondering if people are giving up to log in now.

I guess I'd need a Gold account for this?

Correct, always the way with Xbox and Online Play to my knowledge?

Not impressed with GTA Online thus far..

The character models are nowhere near as detailed as their 'V' counterparts, often when playing there is only 5 other players on my map... last night that dwindled down to 2.. wtf, and I don't like how I have to unlock all the weapons.

That's a piss take; whatever you unlocked in V should have been available to buy in Online mode.

Also the online missions are no where near as fun as those in V.

Online appears to have gotten worse the more people have joined. There's almost zero take up for coop missions or race challenges, and instead it's become a free for all gun battle, shooting other players' tyres, or hit-n-run type of game. I think teaming up with friends is essential. Cloud glitch wiped my MP sav, however.

Can you play Online without other players? I mean with just your friends on the map? I'm not really interested in getting ganked by some random arseholes.

And earning money on the online is sloooooooooow - who'd of thunk it? You can buy in game currency ... of course you don't have to but clearly it's gimped to encourage it. What a shocker.

Getting 'paper' in SP is a grind too. I've been dabbling intelligently in stocks, about 3/4rs through not skimping on side missions, but still only got about 1.5 million across all 3 characters. How you meant to afford the big ticket properties like golf course at 150 million?! Winning a street race for example only gets you about $200! They could do with opening the casino and race track, but they've got DLC written all over them I think.

Can anyone here help me out with this.. Basically I usually install all my game discs to the HDD but as it states that if you do it with GTA V there might be performance issues I obviously didn't, low and behold the 360 console got knocked whilst playing and now I have a dirty great scratch all the way round the disc (first time this has ever happened to me too)

Now the game will recognise as GTA V still so I'm ok with that, but when I try an install it to HDD it doesn't get past 44% which I guess is where the damage is

Could someone possibly install the play disk onto a USB drive and upload it briefly PM'ing me the link so I can grab the install and hopefully still be able to play the game? (I hope this is an ok to ask request? If not I will have to find another way or find someone with a copy I can borrow)

                            Cheers Olly.

Er, how about you take it back to the shop and get a replacement?

An install to a USB drive is linked to the console so it won't help.

I got it online so I can't exactly nip into the shop to do that, also I doubt they'd replace it as damage has been done by me/my console..

But thanks for confirmation on the USB install I wondered if there might be something in place to prevent that
