PES 2014 review

I don't get how Fifa is mechanical, it's pure hanger on talk. It's wonderfully free and fluid, easily the best representation yet.
Seriously, get a PS3 copy and play me.

I played FIFA for 3 years. The last PES I bought (apart from '14) was 2010, and even then I played it for about a week. I'm hardly hanging on.

FIFA is a game for gamers. Not football fans.

It suckers idiots in with licenses, shiny players, fancy menus and expensive TV advertising with an Argentinian dwarf.

Then, more sheep follow the flock and declare it brilliant. Because it is the thing to do. When, in reality, it is far from brilliant. The gameplay in the latest FIFA isn't even as good as PES6. There is no passion, heart or soul to the game. Each game is like the next. People are quick to forget what PES6 and before offered, and are unwilling to give PES2014 a chance now that it is getting back to what made the series great. You could call them 'hangers on' if you will.

FIFA is better in single player, the AI is better and the game modes are better...but who wants to play football single player. Not me, that's for sure.

Considering I don't even have a PS3 console, there is zero chance of me buying FIFA...and why would I anyway? It's inferior to PES in the places that really matter.

It would be easy to jump on the FIFA bandwagon now that it has the momentum, but I've returned to the true home of computerized football, PES. Any genuine football fan, when given both games a proper and fair comparison, would do the same.

11vs11 - it should be brilliant. But it won't be. You'll always have one idiot scoring own goals and stuff. Once the lobby system is in place, it should be better. Surely it will be laggy as hell though considering they couldn't even sort 1vs1 out at launch. PES2014 is still pretty much unplayable at a weekend for example.

- back down to 4th today. Some of the cheaters have been allowed back again. Thankfully one seems to be gone for good.

It was good at the top, but I don't know if I could take the pressure and the spotlight much longer anyway.

I tried that mate, I went Liverpool all the time, but everyone just goes Real/Barca/Juve/Bayern.

So I equaled the playing field.

Hello I have a chance to play winning eleven 2014 today.
Transfers are not up to date. New faces are not there too.
But good news is game runs better. Cursor change is better. Overall player awareness is better. For loose balls etc. Cross headed by my defender instead of chested and kick it
Every Cpu controllered team is not playing the same way.
Not a yellow card for every foul. I can manage to score a goal with Ozil outside of the box.
Overall it's a playable game unlike pes 2014.
I made these compressions by playing both games on ps3.
I hope patch will fix the game like winning eleven or better.

And menus are seem to be a bit faster. Gameplan menu for example...
there is no base copy option in edit menu also.
i think it's with gameplay tweaks and without november dlc content...

For Those that don't know 15MB patch is up PS3 PES 2014. I found good and bad things.

Faces missing!! Happening to anyone else?!?

Nearly whole Chelsea team, Rooney Gerrard, Van Persie, Pique Pepe, Benzema faces have gone, Modric too!?!? Don't know if this is to do with WENB option file or the patch messed up the game. Or if Winning Eleven never had their faces. Or is it place holders for 800 faces.

Gameplay etc:


Menu screen waaaay faster at loading up.

Screen looks softer. They may have lathered the graphics/smoothed them out

Feels so much better and stable.

Much smoother play.

Ball bounces around aimlessly less. Plus less ping pong deflections.

Keepers catch more.

Keepers more urgency.

Through balls go more where you want them to. ( I use advanced through ball).

Physicality works better.

Responds a lots better.

More fouls.

Shooting feels it has a bit more power.

Passing more accurate.

I think this patch is Winning Eleven 2014.




Update

Seems data pack has also been released so missing faces could be to do with that. Downloading data pack 2.

Defaulting faces/hair apparently sorts out the missing faces problem if you have an option file installed. That's a lot of faces/hair to default then :/.

Still not quite snappy enough for first time passing but much less treacle like. More fizz to the play now. Feels unfinished still but certainly much improved.

GK still suck mostly. Shooting better but not Fifa standard. Due to the increased feel, you can mix pace up much better and pass nicely. It's good. Not good enough for me to pay for.
