What's this? Is this normal for Forza DLC?

Yikes.... I'm totally buzzing now. I've been racing the V8 atom. How am I supposed to sleep now?
While in a career, if you don't restart, there's no way of going back to the event until you've done all the other events to complete the section you are in (e.g. 5 races). Bit of a pain since I was going for gold and then pressed continue by accident, just as I was getting in the zone. Also, what's with allowing you to go "back" to the title screen and then spending 20 seconds doing something while you return to somewhere useful.... I remember Forza2 did this as well. Shame on you developers.Last edited by charlesr; 25-11-2013, 22:34.

My normal tactic is to drive around the outside of large corners and try and dive up the inside on hairpins. Just wondering how well it is trying to copy me.
It says something like "Drivatar sync 18%"

I think it's a normal amount of credit grind, but since you don't win cars at the end of seasons the money disappears quickly. You do get 30k or so for finishing a season, which helps.
I wonder if it employs the practice of only giving you certain credit (from your Drivatar) if you log on daily - in Clash of Clans, it caps the amount you can generate so you have to log on daily to empty the buckets so they can refill again. i.e. if you don't play for 2 days, will Forza5 give you double the amount of drivatar credit (and come back in 4 months and you can buy everything).Last edited by charlesr; 26-11-2013, 07:55.

I tried the Atom with the TCS on - it was totally hobbledNo fun at all, but necessary for the "through the cones event" which was a tough one with tight gaps. I hope people take the risk and try without TCS and SCS otherwise, you are missing out on a large chunk of the experience.
Sitting through 60 seconds worth of "look at the pretty rubber and dust on the front wing and then slowly adding up your XP credit" after each race is starting to get very boring. Where's the skip button? The least they could do would be to load up the next race while you are staring at that stuff. Yes, I know this is the same as in every other racing game ever, but if I was in charge, things would be different because the actual driving is amaaaazing, so that's the bit that I want to be spending my time with.
And why does it take so long to restart a race? Rather than just putting you back to the 3-2-1, it puts you back to the menu system and then you have to sit through the unskippable "look at your pretty car!" sequence that you've seen 5 times already. Did no-one at Turn10 play TrialsHD? I've found myself using the rewind feature a lot due to drivatar stupidity. I've even driven straight into the back of a car doing 20mph on the racing line on a straightaway while I've been doing 150mph. Without the rewind I think I would have thrown my toys by now.
Note: these things that annoy me are no worse than before, so if didn't annoy you before, you'll be ok here.Last edited by charlesr; 26-11-2013, 08:37.

They probably don't want you constantly restarting the race, that's why they make doing so a pain in the arse. As far as I can remember its always been the same in Forza, at least in the core series, maybe it was different in horizon, but I got bored of that open world rubbish so quickly I don't think I ever even restarted a race before selling it.

But why not restart? I can't think of a good reason to slow that process down. Later in the game, the length of the races will deter restarts on their own, but early on when learning the tracks on 2 lap races you spend as much time faffing around in between races as you do in a race.
Anyway, that's enough on that topic - I wrote a whole article lambasting the design of racing games already.Last edited by charlesr; 26-11-2013, 08:51.
