And all wrapped up with one of the worst endings I can remember.

visually the art is superb, and you almost feel like the Ps4 is giving a preview of graphics techniques to come, but my goodness it really is badly designed on the gameplay front. Shame.
At the moment I score it 6, but that might be my bias for dropping 600 quid on a ps4 and the bits. I don't feel the reviews were harsh enough.

Thing is the review came out before the game was out and everyone was like 'wha... bubut E3 Forest demo and more freedom!'. No one besides the press had played it yet after all. Its in fact WORSE than Killzone 3.

Unbelievable that in this day and age they can get something like a FPS as wrong as you're saying, especially when they've developed a full series of games. Oh well, I'll see for myself when I get home in a few days and try it out. I would imagine I'll be even more annoyed than most as MP online holds no interest for me.Last edited by Colin; 16-12-2013, 17:26.

There are many challenging games that are fun. KZ is just not fun. I suppose if you still like the try and learn functionality of Manic Miner, then it might appeal. If you are after an open world shooter that empowers the player to make their own choices, like Crysis 1 or Far Cry 3, then you will be sorely disapointed.

i actually think mercenary plays more like killzone 2 than shadow fall does. there are a few strange things in the single player of SF, such as the non-saving of checkpoints (and random save points) which means that you need to commit to finishing a level in one sitting to know its definitely saved your progress (not easy when you are married...). also the levels a quite mazelike with not much discovery in there and lots of dead ends - i think id have preferred a more linear experience, as the waypoints are not clear enough. i can understand they wanted to try something different with the more open levels, but its not quite right somehow. the dead space rip off level was all a bit dull too. its frustrating because when it gets it right, it really gets it right and at times is stunning to look at.
