Nothing like the early 360 days, about the same as my 360s

Remote play is incredible. It's like playing a game natively. This bodes brilliantly for vita tv

It is a lot less flimsy...though still very light. Its curves with my hands a lot better, the matte finish is easier to grip.
The triggers are less spongy, and the bumpers bigger. The size of the pad means for the first time ever I could play using the "claw" method and be comfortable. Also the sticks are a lot stiffer and slightly taller. The back of the pad curves out similar to the 360 pad too.

It really is great...after a few more hours play the only real downside is the big stupid light on the back reflecting in the TV and I am not quitesure if I like how light it is!

My machine is loud as hell when playing a disc game but just tried playing a BLURAY that was nice and quiet

So far so good. It is a quality bit of kit, doesn't feel cheap at all.

Apart from the predictable day one server issues I'm loving the UI, very clean, fresh and easy to use.

HDD upgrade was a breeze, as I've said in other posts I've swapped and I'm using my Samsung 1TB from my PS3. Easy to install and upload firmware from USB stick, a few minutes later I'm playing Killzone which after a slow start is better than I thought, looks good too.

Can't wait to see what's to come in the years ahead; it's a gamers console with no gimmicks.

A gamers console with no gimmicks, ah that made me chuckle.
Oh how do you turn off the light on the pad?

I can't get over the fact that resogun works over remote play. Works properly I mean. You could go for high scores if you wanted.

Pad is overall better but sticks are too stiff (xbox peeps will like) and the face buttons feel about 10% cheaper than ds3 ones. Overall great though. The options button is not positioned very well either because that touch pad is in the way.

My unit is quiet. I was playing the kz campaign within 30 seconds of putting the disc in.

Blu rays look nice. No issues there.

The rgb range default is set to auto. Note that on my tv (samsung plasma) it got thay wrong. My tv is set to full range and under auto ps4 output limited so I've had to force it to full range and now all is well.

The update took 15 minutes to download on my crappy 3 mbit line.

The sixaxis is much more responsive than it was in ds3. Just used it to play Flower and there's zero lag between tilting control and it being reflected kn game.

Sony have absolutely nailed remote play. My router isn't compatible with wake on pan. Whenever I told my PS3 it could be woken by remote play my router would wake it up immediately and keep on doing that until the PS3 figured out that it wasn't working and switched the option off. Fast forward to PS4.

I just put my PS4 ins to standby, waited 10 minutes and then used my vita to remote play via a wifi hotspot on my phone and it woke the PS4 up and went into remote play in about 45 seconds. Sadly you can't use remote play with a 3g connection on a 3g Vita. Anyway, really didn't expect that to work.

Full range is for pc monitors, not tvs....black level will be crushed badly

Resogun is fantastic full stop. I never really took much notice of it 'til now, it looks stunning when you get further into it, I almost wish it was in 3D.

pretty much this...and even if it isn't its highly recommended to use limited range for pretty much everything else.

My TV supports it and looks better with it, so how is it not for TVs?

I also have a Samsung Plasma and had to set it to full manually.

What's also nice is just how silent the system is easily as quiet as Xbox One. The Dual Shock 4 feels so good in the hands, lightweight and sticks and buttons are perfectly placed. I thought the d-pad on the Xbox One controller was nice if anything this is even better.
When it's sitting on the dash, on netflix or playing a light game (escape plan at the minute) mine is near silent (but still not as quiet as the one, but it doesn't have this other sound that the one has and I actually prefer it a bit even if it is a little louder). With Killzone on, it RAGES.

What is also a nice little feature is that you can use the sensor on the pad with the camera to type messages. Takes a while to get used to but you just move the pad Wiimote like to select the letter. I find it much quicker than selecting each letter at a time.
Just to correct this- it's not using the camera at all. I don't have one, and it works amazingly well. It's using the incredible new Sixaxis Sony has put in this thing. Never thought I'd say that but I genuinely want that in more games now.

So far first impressions are very good, downloads are super quick, even over the wireless network. I haven't played Killzone yet, I'm to busy exploring the system.
Downloads are really really quick! I was surprised (happily). I'm a little underwhelmed with the software pickings at the minute though. Kinda wish I'd got AC4 for this rather than XB1 (have it sitting here because of Shopto's mistake but I'm not paying for 2 copies of AC4 ).

The sticks on the pad are still too lose but they are much better than the horrible ps3 ones. the pad is good in general, but it's still not an xbox pad, still feels a bit too light and cheap.
