Since I lost my characters the thought of starting from scratch is nauseating to me. May pick it up a few more expansions down the line. We'll see how destiny pans out. Sounds like they at least learnt there story lessons, are there terminals in game now for the grimoire?

Also I just don't like the look of the hive ship. I really like the colours and brightness of the cosmodrome, I'd like to see more areas with these bright pallets instead of the hive decal, it's just so dull in every way.

You won't need to start from scratch. If you buy TTK you get a one-off item you can use that boosts you straight to level 24, so you can jump straight in to the new content. Also, no grimoire kiosks (yet) but there are items scattered around the destinations that you can scan with your ghost and you get some extra story background (spoken by your ghost).

Not all the new content is based in the Dreadnaught. But once you're exploring it, it's a sci-fi nerds wet-dream. I can comfortably say that some of the graphics inside the Dreadnaught are without doubt some the best graphics I've seen so far this gen. There's some incredible design detail that far surpases what's in the base game. Without spoiling anything, it's not all what the various publicity shots would have you believe. There have been loads of moments during strikes / missions where I've stopped to admire the view.

Bungie have really gone to town with this release. They had a lot to prove after the previously lacking DLC packs, but they really have listened. The whole package is just total fan-service.

I've decided to come back...getting the disc version for ?42 quid seemed a good deal after all the good press.

So PS4 players...please guide me through all the dlc stuff I've missed

This guy tried to drive humanity away from the moon. The guardians ****ed him up, so now his Dad has come to **** everybody up.
          Kept you waiting, huh?

With this 'definitive' release, have they retrofitted the earlier SP game and DLC with the improved characterization/lore/cutscenes etc. that I'm reading about, or is it just for the final chunk of DLC this 'Taken King' bit? I didn't mind the original release, played MP quite a bit, and wouldn't mind ploughing through again if it's been improved across the board.

Plot on vanilla release was a joke so glad to hear that it's being better told now:

"I could tell you what happened...but I won't!" Thanks a bunch you knob! just got raised from the dead and recruited to a mysterious space-war, and I don't deserve a bit of explanation?!

The two previous DLC's were a joke IMO. TTK doesn't fair too much better. The story can be completed in one sitting.

It's saving grace is that there are a fair amount of quests to complete, there's the race to level 40, and the new Raid. They're however relying heavily on people being fooled by the Year 2 gear meaning an entirely new game.
              Kept you waiting, huh?

Don't be fooled by the press BaronSqwelch Bungie took down the official TTK feedback thread due to all the poor feedback they where getting.

As J0e Musashi said there isn't a huge deal more extra content over the two previous expansions and for double the price I'm not biting. Seen people finished the story in 2-3 hours all the rest of the new content takes it to about 6 hours, the rest of the play time is players grinding for new weapons, gears, grimorie etc..

There's a real lack of community events which is hurting the game heavily, it does just feel like a offline single player game a lot of the time still and Bungie just aren't doing anything about it. The lifetime sales of the TTK will be interesting as I suspect it will decide the fate of Destiny.

Didn't bite either. I don't like how they treat vanilla players. And with vanilla I mean hardcore players who bought both the horrible TDB and HoW expansions for way too much cash. In the end TDB offered a woeful campaign with bad missions and strikes. 2 awful PvP maps and a 45 minute raid. HoW offered a brainless PoE with bad rewards, a decent Strike and decent PvP maps. No raid.

Now, Destiny is worthless without TTK. Crucible is gimped, strike playlist is gimped, and only standard difficulty is selectable on missions. I understand that they want players to upgrade their game, but to simply cut the base game in half for those who think being ripped off twice is enough is something else. They neutered the product I paid 60 for last year and it doesn't even work as advertised anymore (can't play Control for example). I wonder if thats even legal.

I find the praise very suspicious. Its indeed very short and to me feels like how the game should have been in 2014. And don't let the Nolan North VA fool you, its the same terrible script and the change doesn't help at all.

The quests are awesome though, and very community-based.

See this is whats bugging me, Bungie are actively removing content, then charging you for the privilege of adding in some new stuff to replace the stuff you used to be able to play.

I wonder how many nightfalls you could even participate in the space of 6 months without the croata, how, and now ttk add ons?

Is that right s3m, 2-3 hours for the story? that's no more than the HOW story missions.

You could do the orrix bit in a few hours but that's not the end of the story content, the taken war story line carrys on after you face orrix and will take you an age to do.

then there's the new quests system loads of new and revamped strikes, secrets treasure hunts and loads of cool stuff to find by patrolling the dreadnought, the court of oryx, the biggest raid that bungie have done so far with multiple routes and bosses you can miss first time round, the games story content isn't over in three hours it's just begun.

But yeah there's nothing to do here, God knows what I've been doing till 2am ever night this week with so little to do

God I love this game I'm itching to get back on and carry on with the story.

I forgot to mention but Nightfall and Weekly playlists are removed altogether if you don't have TTK.

Got 10 exotics within the hour. There is an exploit.

Buy Three of coins at Xur. Start the Winter Kell mission. Run to his lair, pop a three of coins and hurt him until his health is critical. Suicide with rocket on him. Pop a three of coins again and repeat. He will drop exotic engrams.

I did this on easy, have no TTK.

I'll have quite a lot to play through...I stopped playing before any of the dlc so will have it all to go through.

With my puny year 1 peashooters...is my vault full of ascendant energy/shards and motes of light still usuable??
