Having tried Dark Souls and more recently Demon Souls and not enjoyed either I was a bit unsure whether I'd enjoy this game.
However I played the beta and enjoyed it because it was more like a DMC/Bayonetta in terms of attacking rather than defending like the souls games which I wasn't a fan of.
Bloodborne also gives me a similar vibe and feeling to Biohazard 4 when I played that on the cube.
I have really taken to this game now after dying ****loads of times and enjoy the atmosphere of the Victorian era world.
I've beaten the first 2 bosses now after a bit of farming to get myself upto to a level where I could just about survive Gascoigne!

The Music Box should stun him once, and then lose effectiveness. I've actually found him easier in this later form, at least you can get at long range and heal. Anyway, stay away from the tombs, and keep dodging, striking once or twice (depending on the weapon you have) during the brief pauses. Fire paper and molotovs work great, as he'll take increased damage due to his fur (beast status).

I found Gazza to be fairly straight forward, surprisingly. The music box stunned him, and he was finished before that wore off. I did get to the point where i was doing an almighty lap of Central Yarnham though, on a ridiculous grinding marathon (and mostly to get to grips with how to play it properly).
So...to all the fellow forumites currently around the Blood Starved Beast, what are you doing for armour and weapons? And at what point do we find twin blood shards to continue progressing our weapon pimping?

I'm finding armour to be one of the more disappointing aspects in Bloodborne. There's a fair bit of choice and some of it looks great, but everything's pretty much outclassed by the set you get a few hours into the game. What you wear doesn't affect how fast you can move meaning there's no benefit in going for a light, cloth set, or ramping up stats so you can be a walking sheet of metal. It's all a bit dumbed down and makes build options more basic. Infact, are there any build options in Bloodborne? Otherwise I'm loving the game and am flying through the second play through! If anything the bosses seem a whole lot easier second time round as there's nothing unexpected coming. Here's hoping we get a shed load of dlc

For me I just constantly hopped back, staying out of his range and when he stood on his hind legs into left swipe, right swipe, charged left swipe I would shoot him during this charged attack and it would stun him every time. (3rd form does an extended version of this attack pattern)
Using this method I think I used 1 antidote and 2 vials to beat him, whereas before I was chugging health and antidotes like pop!
You've mentioned before Dave, it's sooooo worth for the first few attempts at a boss just going in and learning stuff. Don't wade in and start necking items immediately. If you die, you die but it hasn't cost you anything (if you've ran straight to the boss) but you've learnt something about the boss
Against VA there were rounds where I literally didn't attack, I just danced around, learning attack patterns seeing what she did and how long her took to recover. After a few attempts you can see the openings of when you can get a few hits in.
