Appreciate your guidance, though.
I know one weapon won't make me invulnerable, but it'll definitely give me an edge, plus I'm enjoying myself at the moment.
Once I've done the smithing of Bloodhound, I'll probably start exploring a bit more.
I had a whole bunch of nope last night where I needed to get to a castle to the East of my position, but a cliff drop stopped me.
I worked out a river cut through the cliffs, so I headed West towards it.
Spotted some dudes on an island, so started to run over to investigate.
A blimmin' giant dragon few down and started chomping them, so I ran away, down towards the river.
ran past all the skeletons and enemies, only to find it was some boss zone and some badass invaded the game (NPC), so I turned around and ran back again.
Found a lift down to a mine. Attacked the first enemy mining away, but took ages to kill him, so I ran away from there.
Then back the way I came, past the miners, past the skeletons, past the invader zone, past the skeleton and back to where I started!
I then found a safer way around!
I'm doing a lot of running away at the moment...
My top starting tip is do the area below the castle ignore the markers pointing you towards sights of grace and towards the castle and just unlock the first areas map and explore that region its a pretty steady area without many spikes in difficulty and is a lot more fun than chasing stones to over level yourself.Last edited by Lebowski; 30-11-2022, 15:43.

Yeah, that jump has definitely been nerfed, so a different adventure awaited me last night.
I started working my way towards getting the Bloodhound Gang, picking up a few somber smithing stones along the way.
Nice to visit some new places and see some new horrors to run away from.
Got a few thousand souls just for hanging around!
There were a load of those Dino-Rex things, some flame zombies and some kind of flamin' battle tank. I was just trying to get the invisible scarab, I spent a hilarious amount of time running close the enemies, bringing them together so they'd kill each other, rather than me!
I think I have every smithing stone except 7, now.
Going to try and get the Bloodhound Fang off the boss. I applied Flame of Eddie Redmayne, but for the life of me couldn't work out how to use it. Changed to two-handed and it prepped, but wouldn't send the fire wave out! Finally worked out it was L2 and started using it on the cannon fodder at the castle gates at the start, only to discover it uses the magic meter, which promptly ran out just as I was about to take out the tough soldier with the shield, so even more running away, damnit!
However, I'm less scared of standard enemies now I'm a bit tougher and am learning the controls a bit.
Not sure how I'll ever take down all the giant death birds, glowing ghost trolls and actual blimmin' dragons!
SIDE NOTE:
Have you seen there's an Elden Ring boardgame on Kickstarter?
There are only 11 hours to go, so you'll need to get a wriggle on!
Starting at £75 for the Entry Pledge, £152 for the Core Pledge and then £364 all-in!

All you have to fear is death and a quick run back to where you were dont let the game intimidate you. like i said earlier if you want an easier time stay out of the caste for the moment until your leveled up a bit and explore Limgrave get the map fragments do a few dungeons and grab all the loot and items limgrave has to offer. The game dose a really bad job of sign posting at first as the points of grace point you straight at the castle and lets you push on to the next area without exploring any of Limgrave at all.
It's bizarre that they push you straight at the castle as every other area has a pattern to it where they force you to explore the area before letting you progress to the next. Normally you have some kind of blocker that stops you getting to the next area with a number of tasks to do to open the path, The first area strangely doesn't do this, what the game should of done was let you go to the castle but not let you in and force you to turn around and explore as nothing in Limgrave is harder than the boss at the end of the castle. For example in limgrave
the dragon on the lake or the boatman in the swamp are both far easier to kill than Godrick the Grafted

Last night, I was going to get one of the smithing stones from a swamp, but saw there was a map totem nearby, so I thought I'd "pop" to get it and unfog that part of the map.
As I headed towards it, I rode past some wizard skeletons, who sent one of their dogs after me, so I hurried away only to have a DRAGON appear and start chasing me too! So I ran even faster, only to have one of those death knights on horseback appear in front of me, so I've got TWO screen-wide health bars of bosses and a load of grunts chasing after me like Benny Hill!

Can't argue with any of that!
More japes as I ran around in fear.
At one point I was pushing my luck a bit, hacking up easy zombie targets.
Found some guy on a cliff and as he died, there was a big puff of smoke and a damn giant bear appeared! WHAT?!
Ran away (natch) and spotted one of those scarab beetles in a lake at a safe distance from a giant enemy crab, so thought I'd risk it. Then TWO MORE CRABS appeared!
So at this point, I had three giant crabs AND a giant bear chasing after me, then the scarab vanished!
Anyway, I killed a few more peasants so I'd have enough souls to level up my spell meter once more, stop procrastinating and try and take out the Evergaol boss and get the Bloodhound Gang.
Descended to his lair and ended up dying without even landing a single punch. Uh oh.
Tried again and mashed him up bigstyle on only my second attempt!
Thought I'd test that bad boy out on a few perps in a camp nearby, only to die, hahaha!
Went back and got my souls from beating the boss, then tried again, but was a little more cautious.
Popped to the round table smith and upgraded the sword to level 5, then ran out of souls.
Back to the start for CLOBBERIN' TIME!
All the soldier grunts at the gate: Dead!
Centurion guard dickhead: Dead!
Soldiers on horses: Dead!
Camp of wizards and soldiers: Dead!
Lake of giant enemy crabs: Dead!
Giant puff of smoke bear: Dead!
Mwah ha haaaah!
I even popped to Volcano Manor and smited one of those snake guys!
I'm not invulnerable, but it's getting hella tasty, fo sho'!Last edited by QualityChimp; 05-12-2022, 07:23.
