This is a fantastic display of animation and control working really well in a game.

It's a real shame that the level design is terrible, and most are far too dull.
I would have liked to have been fighting better enemies most of the time though. The now obligatory 're-animated puppet' types are a bit ****.

That said, it's still a much better game than either of the Shinobi's and DMC2. Well worth buying just to experience the fluidity of the combat.

It's when you try to chain the levels when you realise how ace the level design is. Agreed though, if you're just trying to hack your way through, it's a little repetitive. Go for them 1000+ chains lad!

The levels are too spartan. Needs more baddies, in less space.
Then there'd be less 'oh no must fly, can't touch floor will knack my combo, ****e'. You should be flying between serious battles not searching out tiny pockets of enemies.

It's a bit better once you're tooled up to the tits and have unlocked the harder modes though. Good game, needs a solid sequel.

I'm on board too now - i hadnt worked out how to power up, but reading back in this thread someone said use the second option down when you go into a warpgate. I think i'll do a Bujingai search on the net for the kanji-challenged...

But it is fun, DMC/Omnimusha and fighting games have not impressed me this round of consoles, so its nice to see something take the genre and give it a kick. I've only managed a 100-120 combo, obviously i need to work out how to sustain them, and juggle properly.

One negative; the girlfriend dosent like the music and slashing-cackling noises (from me), so i have to keep the volume down when shes about <grrrrr>

Sack that GF! The music is brill

As for combos - not touching the floor stops your combo meter going down.
So you have to master the flying and wall running to combo the whole stage.

Do you need to have any knowledge of any Japanese what so ever for this game?

If no, then I'll pick up a Jap one now.

None whatsoever (apart from the story obviously)

There are a lot of interviews and video clips from the making and promotion of the game which you unlock - but then those will most likely be removed if this game makes it to the west anyway.

                  Worth buying then?

Convince me one last time before I use my credit card again!

Before and after were three sweet boss fights, which totally restore my faith. But now I am guessing i'm near the end, and the

But its a right pisser after how well thought out the rest of the game is.

Begging for tips of hints at the moment...

But it is a damn good game for the good bits, and i certainly do not regret importing it.

Well been playing this game on and off for a week now...

Wow, I have to say I'm well impressed! Granted the level design is a bit dull but it really doesn't bother me bacause the fighting is that wicked!!!

I've just had a boss fight on the 4th level....all I can say is, Whoa!!!

The boss battles are truely insane but awesome at the same time. Took me 26 attempts to do it and I never got frustrated once because I knew it was down to lack of skill. Once I had him sussed, I nailed the sucker!! 8)

Hopefully they're gonna build on this franchise...Imagine a proper adventure with this style of fighting!!! Would kick the sh*t out of anything on the market at the minute!! (and that includes Ninja Gaiden!)

I love it!! Beats Onimusha 3 hands down IMO!

                          Cool music too

IGN's rumour section (and, thusly, Magic-Box) reported that Taito's happy enough with Bujingai to fund a second game, which may or may not feature more destructible environments, a second playable character (I'd guess Hyde, but I'm not ashamed to publicly say please, God, let it be Megumi), and a variety of weapons.

I'm a bit leery of the introduction of different weapons, as that sounds suspiciously like a real action-adventure game; I'm hopelessly shallow and enjoy Bujingai just fine without 20,000 different movesets.

                            Good news either way though.

I got this game this morning and on immediate first impressions it seems very, very good...
How are people comparing this to Ninja Gaiden though?
I think I better complete Ninja Gaiden first before I play this but it does seem like there so little time with all these really good games out this year that I've not had the time to play as yet...

Sorry to ressurect an oldish thread but i just bought this game from Toys'r'us in Causeway bay. I was just browsing through the games with 2 of my friends (one of whom is now going to buy a ps2) and saw the girly looking Gackt on the front cover. Without hesitation i bought the game and played it for about 1 hour last night (girlfriend problems meant longer play wasn't possible).

Oh My God, this game is pure loveliness. I played the through 1st stage twice and the biggest combo i've managed so far is 144, i'm finding wallrunning and flying abit troublesome to master. That's only because i'm lame though.
