does anyone know what the traslation is for the menu options when you select the portal thing from your 'home base' level?

after finishing the first level and talking to the blue chick, she takes you to your home base thing, and upon selecting the portal, you get five options, the top two take you to the second level (on different difficulty levels i imagine, but i cant work out which is which), and then the third takes you back to replay the first level, and the fourth takes you to the shop, and the last quits.

will this list fill up with levels that ive completed? and which open selects the next level at which difficulty?

this game is awesome tho. its just so stylish and just over the top. its like a psycho-shinobi

From the top the options are for the stages you have finished/available, if you quit partway through a stage you can go back to the point you left by selecting the top option (which appears above the stages when you leave a stage partway through)
Stages are listed in reverse order:

(continue from point you left - when you leave a stage)
      stage 3
      stage 2
      stage 1
      Power-up screen

The next option below the stages is the power up screen - you use the orbs you collect to boost your powers/life/defense.

        excellent, cheers.

i was wondering why two of the options took me to the same level, i thought maybe it was starting the level on easy or normal ...

Yikes! How? I have both swords powered up to maximum, and I can only manage around 10-15 hits per enemy before they die!

You gotta get them in the air d00d! Then you can keep hitting them forever!

That *is* hitting them in the air!

                  Ah...

You gotta time your hits perfectly, so you can keep them up in the air. I had the same problem at the start of the thread, which Saurian kindly answered If you get it right, you can go on forever. The best place to practice is in the hall, in the Hub section.

I'm well late on this discussion, I've just got another PS2 sorted.

I can't believe how wicked this unlockable is.....You can create and record your own intro, choosing whateva first and second wave enemies you wanna kick off against. It's all about Lau's original costume and using the level 4 sword combo on the first 2 enemies, then switching target the moment you break into No Shadow Kick on the next fiend and ending in da No Shadow Kick pose (there are four unique poses). Then gliding & flying with the flying spin magic over to the second wave and dealing out air juggle techniques to flying spin magic to Hurricaine Spin (Senpu) to Senpu Pose. The intro tune is ..... special!

I wouldn't mind the US version, to get into the story.

The last platform section on Hard Mode is PROPER frustration! They've removed and shorted some floating wall that allow you to get up to the temple. It's annoying!11 Has anyone made that jump sequence?

Just played through the first level of the US edition and I'm impressed - its flowing and stunning looking and feels incredibly fluid.

However I'm not sure I have as much control over Gackt as I do Dante and the sense of weight to the sword that DMC has seems to be abscent - hey but who cares it still feels cool.

Not sure it was worth waiting for the US edition in terms of story - its appears pertty incomprehensible even in english. However the dub is hilarious - almost exactly like a 1970s Hong Kong chop suey flick as are the titles that flash up. The voice over on the training level had me laughing repeatedly.

One thing I didn't like is why can't I practice during the training sequence? I don't want watch whilst I bloke tells me how to do things - I want just to do it for gods sake!

Lau is a dream to control. Definately one of my favourite characters. After loads of hours play time I'd have to say he is a little shallow compared to Dante.

This game would have opened up a lot more for me if you could switch between Spells in-game (mid combo ) I'm well pissed off there's no Boss Survival Mode as an unlockable!

                              Gah!

I'm up to stage 7 and the question 'why did they have to ruin such a great game with god awful platform sections?' keeps going through my head.

Shame because the bosses on level six were amazing

The floating temple with the series of wall jumps is my least favourite part of the game.
