I played a couple of Master Ranked players over the last few days in the Battle Hub and it's almost like playing two different games.

I don't really know how they do it but some players seem to be able to relentlessly attack and you never seem to have a turn.

The skill gap here seems immense, there was one player who I did a 5-5 with his Juri, guy left the machine came back with Kimberly and totally obliterated me, looked at his profile and yep Juri was a sub character and Kim ranked as Master.

I am actually at a bit of a loss as to how to take on that kind of player. I will grab a replay and add it later to illustrate what I mean.

I hit a wall with Super Street Fighter IV, because one thing I could never do is hit-confirm off a jab; but I could tell that some of those people could. They had pretty much perfect blockstrings too, making it just seem like trying to punch a wall. Some people are extremely skilled on a really fundamental level.

I've learned that Gold-2 is basically where I top off, without actively working at it. Now I need to watch my replays and try to disassemble where I'm having problems.

Had a bit of a break from this while I was playing FF16, but I had som time back on to not get too rusty, and make a start on the new battle pass.

Started on Platinum 1, and made my way up to Platinum 3, about to go to 4. Surprised I’m doing so well tbh!

There are Definately a few match ups I struggle with as Cammy, but generally I’ve always been a fundamentals focussed player, rather than elaborate setups and combos. I think most people expect some crazy nutty **** when fighting Cammy, but I don’t tend to go for anything too mad, and it seems to get me reasonably far. I did learn a decent BnB, then found that could be extended out to about 40-50% damage with super, all off a jumping heavy or a standing back MP, so got a good go to if needed- thought it does rely on a few bars of drive gauge, so I should look to optimise/ have other options.

My main problem is not maximising damage of her great buttons. Her jabs and LK’s seemingly convo into spiral arrow/cannon spike as standard but I always leave it off the table, so I need to lab the execution under pressure a bit better. Generally feels like Cammys great buttons are helping me out though.

Apart from that, starting to use drive rush combos more to extend damage. At the moment I use DR primarily for instant pressure and cheap throw loops exclusively.

Originally I thought I’d be happy with gold. When I got there I thought I’d have a goal of platinum. When I got there, I saw diamond in sight. Do I dare dream to attain diamond and to get to Master

Hit confirming of jabs in this game is much easier, I struggled in 5 to do it, but in this 2/3 hits mash joystick and you get your special.

Practise in training and you can learn some decent combos of it. And I really do the see the benefits of practicing something in training, my DR combos are more consistent not and my reaction to DI is improving (still really rubbish but now I can maybe react one or two in every 10).

Hehe no problem bud! I was playing ranked and saw your message in between- it took ages for me to figure out if I could simply message you back- I couldnt so assumed you'd left the lobby. I quickly set up a private game, which again took forever (the menus in this are TRASH) then went back to ranked when you seemed to be busy

I had a rough night on this, and made a great case to JUST STOP PLAYING when you're tired. I was about a 100 points off Plat 4, lost one or two from being tired, but was enjoying playing so continued on. Had a terribad streak and now about 400 points away, pretty much ended the night where I started, even though I was smashing it up for the first couple of hours.

I always know when I SHOULD stop, which is basically when I stop thinking and anti air-ing at all, and pretty much stop all neutral and keep going ham. Its like when im tired my brain shuts down and just says "HIT THE BUTTONS"

yeah the one-more-game or must-end-session-on-a-win is hard to ignore. I try and tell myself to quit ranked session when I've lost 2 sets on the bounce. Whether I follow my own advice remains to be seen

Hehe you too. Didn’t get many matches to feel each other out, and I literally just turned the game on so I wasn’t too comfy yet- have to do it again soon. I could use the Manon practice. I didn’t expect the wake up supers and so many DI’s, so it kept catching me! Already learnt that manon super is a low, so learned something tonight.

SF6 online is now utterly broken and no one can get games, so you aren’t missing much.

Totally forgot to post that SF League Japan had kicked off. Think it will be weekly.

                                Max Doods thoughts after a month;

10/10. Purely on gameplay. I agree with his take that fighters recently have been kinda boring. The minute to minute gameplay too basic and easy to always have the most optimal routes, whereas this game has completely fresh situations based on character, and drive which makes each match seem fresh and different.
