I'll tell you where this game is more scarier than ever... in the goddamn corner! Throw loops, string disguised Drive Impact, being burned out in corner. It just nashty.

Yeah, one thing about SF6 I'm seeing as advice (and giving too) to "what do I do in the corner" is "you need to work harder to just not end up there". Corner traps have always been a thing in SF but they're REALLY bad in 6.

See, I hate being in the corner, it’s a nightmare. But I would 100% prefer the corner mix from someone that actually wants to fight, than the fecking people in getting matched up with who all they want to do is walk backwards and be chased. It’s like the complete opposite of skipping neutral.

Yesterday I just watched someone walk all the way into the corner, I did what I needed to get in- if they got out, walked right back again.

Sounds silly, I know, like it’s advantageous to me in a lot of respects. But keep coming up against people who’s main tactics are just “back away and walk back” every chance they get.

Totally viable and annoying to me, so far play, you do what you want but f**k me is it aggrivating

It’s like, at least play Dhalsim where that’s actually a game plan. But why do it as Marisa

It's funny because as Juri, I only tend to do this against Marisa and Gief. Particularly Gief. I think the Gief players I play against hate the match, because when I win, it's distance, keepaway style of play.

when you play against Gief everyone becomes a zoner

Unless like me who was playing Sagat and it was standing medium or heavy kick and Zangief suddenly has to jump or Banishing Fist, or maybe even moving Lariat. But you could work out when that was coming. Sagat vs Gief in SF4 even after the patches, improvements and nerfs was still very heavy weighted to ol' saggy bottom.

Hahah see, I love a good gief match. Cammy is great at just jabbing him out of everything he has and mixing/crossing him up, so I love getting into Giefs grille! Baiting out a level 3 with a well timed jump is exquisite. I think most Giefs expect people to back off, so they aren’t prepared for when someone actively likes to walk up to their face

On that subject- worse match ups folks? I was looking at my win percentages yesterday and oddly, the stats show different to my personal most hated!

Stats show my two main problems seem to be Blanka and Honda. Honda I know mostly how to deal with his crap, but it’s come at a lot of losses. Same with Blanka. I feel Blanka balls are a little too strong currently, landing out of range and perfect parry being useless make it frustrating. But that’s as someone with no fireball. That air ball is frustrating too.

Oddly my personal worst matchups are from supposed low tiers Manon and Jamie.

I know everything Manon does is minus on block. I know Drive reversal stuffs her. I know where her supers go and how to avoid them. I know the ranges on her approaching slides and kicks. But **** me do I always fall for for her ****. Neutral jump with heavy kick always catches me. DR into command throw always catches me out of now where. It’s a match I struggle with.

Same goes for Jamie. Either I dominate or I get dominated. There’s no middle ground. In theory he’s easy, but I struggle with the mix ups from his rekkas.

Manon is a tier below the lowest possible tier

Great games tonight, speedlolita (the Marisa/Juri ones).

Reminded me, if I ever needed it that games against Marisa go one of two ways, at least for me - I either win, typically by a slither, or Marisa wins and either perfects or near-perfects me. She just hits like a freight train.

Just jumped off because I wanted to try ranked again tonight, but then I got completely wrecked by a Ryu player who I could see was a pretty rudimentary player (but better than me ), which stung a bit.

If you have any tips from what you saw, I'd like to hear them. I'm still stuck firmly in the gold 1/2 ranking, and I haven't actually won a single ranked game in a week.

Though if one of them is "learn to use Drive Rush" I'm aware I don't use it; I haven't figured it out properly yet.

The fear is if you make a mistake in final round and Marisa got lvl 3 it's a see you a later!!

                          Yep, GGs dude.

Sorry about the connection towards the end there, I'm not sure if that was on my end but I've been had pretty bad luck with my connection generally in SF6 recently.

You were using drive rush more effectively than I was so no complaints from me!

You posted about using a pad before in this thread I'm quite sure and I'm not sure how to describe it but that kinda came across in your play. Less block strings than I'm used to fighting Juri perhaps? I was landing my low medium punch poke quite a bit so watch out for that against Marisa, that is definitely her most effective one. I think due to Marisa's fairly high damage output I find myself getting impatient at times which is my main downfall, or blocking too much in the corner and getting thrown. That last one is extremely common, I am not good at counter throwing.

Good news: 1000 Drive Tickets up for grabs in this weekly challenge.

Bad news: You need 50 BH wins!

Edit: ok looks like someone was taking the pee on Reddit this isn't an actual challenge. In fact there seem to be no Saturday tickets challenge today.
