Bear in mind, I think they said this beforehand - the ranking thing at least.

And yeah, once a year seems a bit infrequent.

Many seasonal games-as-a-service games (like Apex Legends etc.) with ranking systems like Street Fighter 6 reset your rank each season. At the end of each season, they give you a medal (e.g. "Attained Diamond Rank in Season 1") which you can display on a profile, and everyone gets reset back to zero.

Personally I like it, because it means if you see someone with a Diamond rank, it means they're presently of Diamond skill level, and if you want to maintain a high rank, you've got to actually maintain it.

It also means that the game "refreshes itself". They tend to send emails out/have marketing pushes at the start of each new season, and that means the game kinda relaunches maybe 3x a year. It gives people an excuse to all jump back on the game for a few weeks, which is really important when the game is ~2yrs old and the numbers start to wane.

OK, figured out my problem with wakeup reversals.

Set up a dummy Luke in training to do his dragon punch, then a meaty sweep. Playing that over and over, I was able to get knocked over, try to do the wakeup reversal, again, again again...

Eventually realised that the timing just is very tight compared to many other games (I mean it was always going to be tighter than SF4, where this was very generous), and came to understand that I was performing the motion too early.

Went online in casual tonight and won multiple matcheswhere it came down to a "yomi" scenario where I would've lost if I hadn't correctly performed the reversal. I'm still not getting it 100% of the time but I'm doing it faaaar more than I was.

Think ownership has passed about a bit a few times in the past few days - some folks have shuffled out from inactivity and so on - and it has now fallen to me, so just to put a PSA out there that there is a Bordersdown club in SF6. There is also an upcoming promo; if you're a member of a club when Rashid arrives on the 24th, you get 2000 drive tickets for free. Even if you don't want to be associated with us long-term, do it for the freebies!

I don't think I've played decent enough examples of every character to pinpoint specific matchup weaknesses, but some more general gaps in my own game I'm very aware of include:
        • My current character (Marisa) not having good anti-air options!
        • People are very frequently in the position to land cross-ups!
        • Knowing when to interrupt strings and push buttons is hard!
        • Throw loops, am I right?

I am slowly, slowly coming around to the idea of keeping drive impact in mind enough so that I have at least a vague chance of reacting to it, but I still do better with reads rather than reactions

Actually looks like your 1000 Drive Tickets for 50 BH wins in actually really is on the SF site, just not yet in the game.

Rashid and new input for DRC is now live.

Also I am hearing your can no longer playback any replays from the the game that were prior to this maintenance window.

Managed to get to Platinum 5 last night, been a struggle playing this week as ive been tired and banging my head against it, but got about 1000 points last night which is mad, as thats like 20 wins, plus i lost a few so had to make some up.

Now starts the crawl to Diamond...!

Noticing some mad stuff people do definately. Stuff that shouldnt catch me too. Like, is it a thing just against Cammt, or a general thing - just people endlessly neutral jumping in neutral?

See it alot from the likes of Ryu and Ken and Manon. Is it a combo thing, or are just people acting weird? Like, when I stop and think about it, I time it and knock them out on approach, but people have started doign it as some weird ass times, andit definately catches me out- but you just dont expect it, but it seems so many people are doing it now

It's an absolute thing it stops a lot of shenanigans. It stops Kimberly in her tracks, it also makes it difficult to random DR or DI cause you just avoided it and then in a position to punish.

It's not new to 6 either it was also used a lot on 5. You will find it will break some players cause all their flowchart gimmicks depend on you being grounded. Of course do it to much and you make yourself vulnerable.

Had a quick bash in training too see what the new DRC cancel is like and it way more consistent, still finding crouch cancelling iffy but it works more times then it doesn't now.

Standing DRC is a game changer, infact I was pressing >> and Parry which I guess doubles your chances.

It's a welcome change but I suspect DRC will become even more prevalent now on line.

Some amazing changes have been slipped into this new Rashid patch it seems!

                  - They've changed the input buffering of DR off whiffed lights. So no more throwing out jabs and buffering the DR on the off chance it hits with no penalty. Instead, if you buffer the movement, you WILL DR at the cost of 3 bars. With the ability to now plink the parry button, it would make, essentially, auto hit confirms into DR for lights (which already happens, but would be made easier) - so theyve made it you cant do it without a drawback.

This may make some fantastic balance changes to fighting say, Ryu or Ken, who in my experience rely on this. But also a stealth buff for Gief, as surprise DR grabs can come out quicker.

                  - You can kara cancel into DR now, initially thought to be Rashid only, but is a universal change. So you can cancel your normal into DR before the animation for the normal comes out, or during.

                  - Giefs burnout time is now normalised to be the same as everyone else (it was a bug) and Giefs lvl 1 is now correctly a grounded super at the start and midair at the correct time appropriately. Be prepared for lots of Giefs, and being lv 1-ed ratehr than everyone waiting for level 3.

                  - THEYVE REMOVED THE SCREEN FREEZE ON DR SO NO MORE EATEN INPUTS. F**K YES.

Loads of patch notes and adjustments for characters on the buckler site. Im happy!

                    Full patch notes here

I must have missed the "remove screen freeze eat inputs" fix. Will have another read.

                    Edit:

Is this what you are referring to

Fixed an issue where medium kick would suddenly be performed when a parry input was buffered or input during a time freeze and then released before the player was able to perform the parry.
That seems like a different issue.

I didnt see it specifically on the patch notes, but im seeing twitter videos and discussion showing it

However, Rashid apparently is broken, and its been discovered already. His level 2 stunlocks you completely when kicked at you. You can block, but burns you out. If you parry, your drive gauge wil; run out and you'll get hit long before its over, and if you manage to block it out, its a corner carry- and not reversible when it ends... and if hitting you when you're burnt out, takes no less than 50% of your health off.

                      Careful out there folks...

I assume this is unintentional and not what is supposed to happen and if so how did this get past the internal test team.

Yep, this needs an emergency patch.

5040 chip damage, and not even requiring a setup, and only off a level 2 in neutral.

Even Justin Wong is online doing it and laughing at how ridiculous it is

Just had a quick lab session over lunch, cr.mk into DRC is going to be the dominating thing in this game for the next few weeks. Once you get your rhythm right you can do some sneaky cr.mk and even if you guess incorrect and do it on block you still get advantage and be in your opponents face. The rewards for guessing right, especially for Ken who has insane meterless corner carry, will be huge.

Exactly the kind of 'worst case scenario' that people were worrying about with a patch of this significance so close to Evo. As I understand, the precedent with updates is that anything released a week before the tournament is considered fair game though, so even if they're sticking to that they still have some time to push a fix out.

Interesting how so much of the patch notes relate to specific control schemes - really seems like they've given themselves more work to keep the systems in parity as they change things.

Will jump on later and see how things are, though I can't say Rashid appeals too much besides a run through his combo trials.

The CapCops have confirmed that are investigating Rashids Level 2 Super. I suspect they will have that patched really quickly.
