Street Fighter League US is kicking off today. Some very good looking teams but NASR looks stacked, both Birds, Punk and Nephew. I would be surprised if they didn't walk away with the top prize.

      I might switch crossplay off...

So I have been on a horrible losing streak and today i came across a player who was teching every single throw. When players have been using delay tech in the past I haven't really tried to change my tactics and shimmy a player and my brain and hands simply keep trying to throw.

After the guy cheekily taunted me at the end of round one, I decided to hell with trying to win this I am going to work on shimming. While I lost the first match just the shear mix up of either neutral jump or walking back in the next two matches really opened up the match. Suddenly the opponent was unsure if he should tech or block so I could now mix up a tick throw, or a shimmy of some kind. And it got me the win in both matches.

I have also been on a massive losing streak against my training partner who plays Zangief, we generally play first to 5 most nights and until this weekend it had been almost months since I had won a set. After a lot of practising DRC and whiff punishing I put in such a performance over the weekend I finished one of the sets 5-0. He even said he felt like I was playing on a totally different level then him.

Whiff punishing is something I haven't really ever thought I could do but after some lab work, it really just boils down to practise, practise, practise, practise.

One thing that has come out of this is now I realise that to get really good at this game you need to know other players who play other characters at a good level who you can constantly spar with and learn every counter for every situation. You just can't do this playing rank and first to two.

Four months in and I am still absolutely loving this game.

Always the way with fighting games. You don't think about it much, but the vast majority of Street Fighter players aren't good at the game, and it's not really a thing for them. They just like to play. Even if you get to a rank like Gold, you're phenomenally better than a really large segment of the playerbase.

I'm sure some of you will feel the same pain I am feeling. I've got the character pass paid up already so have no need for the character rental tickets, which I am now at the upper limit for. There's more available through the fighter pass, but the game won't let me claim them. The UI won't take away the "new item" notification though, and it will actually tell me on startup that "there's new unclaimed tat in the pass menu!" which I cannot get it to clear. I think I'm fairly tolerant of these things but it's getting on my nerves; I can imagine some people are going nuts

Yep same here, those rental tickets are almost useless to me as I will get the pass every season.

On another note I am really trying to incorporate cr.mk DRC into my game but I am having to unlearn 30+ years of holding back when I press a button and this is causing my DRC to fail like 95% of the time. On a stick it is almost like you have to let go and then quickly put your hand back on it. It is a weird sensation. But I am getting my butt handed to me but folks that have this down to a art.

Capcom take my money I want all of these.

Still grinding away at the game, made it back to D2 this weekend. I am finding D3 players really don't like you winning finding there are lots of one and dones.

But I am starting to find Modern players who have good Fundamentals really a pain/chore/not fun to play.

Playing someone who is good at the game but has one button DP/Super really is starting to suck, like you can't do anything even remotely unsafe. I played a M Ken who had other characters in Masters and he actually double perfected me.

The new update seems to have broken on line play, so many disconnects almost every other match. Figures I am having the night off my life in this game, won something like 700 LP and now worried I will get a yellow card cause of these disconnects.

Capcom is aware that there are network issues and working on it.

Completely skipped out on playing in November and already feeling the likelihood that the same thing might happen again this month; it is such an all-or-nothing type proposition that becomes so daunting as you get more aware of your lapsing. That said - I've been watching plenty of it. Loads of Capcom Cup qualifiers have meant there's a lot of content to soak up, and I certainly still get a kick out of watching it - even feeling like I might be learning from it, too. Of the characters I'm playing, JP's costume 3 doesn't do anything for me, but I might have to grab Marisa's. One hundred buckaroos for the whole set is slightly taking the piss, mind.

I have been watching all 3 leagues weekly programme. I have watched the odd WW Tournament, I do make time for the off line ones. It's crazy how much there is in a week.

You absolutely do learn from just watching too, you also laugh when your see bad habits in pros and think there is hope for me yet.

Had a really nice first to 5 with a Master Ken, actually went 5-4 to him. Afterwards he messaged me and asked if I wanted feedback and gave me some very constructive comments.

Really nice to see someone be polite like that normally you just see people insulting each other there.

One system level change that I keep hearing about from the latest patch is that the timing window for wakeup reversals has gone from 4 frames to 7 frames. I know this was something that a few of us here have lamented in the past, around not being able to get your wakeup OD DPs / supers out, and I think this should go a long way to improving that situation. I feel like a really key part of JP's gameplan that I just never bother with is wakeup Amnesia, and it's because I don't have the timing down reliably enough. I guess that can change now!
