      With regards to TIE Fighter:

you MUST get the Collector's edition. This has not only the first expansion pack, but also a second one, that's only available on the collector's CD. It also has the hires (640*480) option, and full speech for everything.

Also, it sorts out the difficulty curve. X-Wing's went up and down like a whore's knickers. TIE Fighter was very carefully put together, but just as it was getting really challenging (and you got the TIE Defender), the game ended. The mission packs change all that - the curve *carries on* and you get some hella awesome T/D missions, and the missile boat - which isn't that bad actually, just requires a very different style of piloting (namely: laser recharge set high permanently so you can use the SLAM drives gratuitously, and remebering you have 40 missiles default as well as the second projectile, so go overboard on them).

The original may as well not exist; the Collector's is where it's at. Also: the plotlines work quite nicely once the original 7 battles are over; the rogue Imperial elements get more complex. Amazing to think the original stopped after Battle 7...

The compilation of X-Wing plus the two expansion packs and updated graphics, menus etc,Tie Fighter plus two expansions and updated graphics and X-Wing vs Tie Fighter must rank as one of the best value compilations ever.

        Years worth of gameplay.

          2 problems

          1) No Balance of Power expansion for XW Vs TIE. Quality expansion pack, with good single player campaign and the 1st appearance of the Super Star Destroyer

          2) TIE Fighter now has CD music was simply plays, no fancy twiddles as new ships arrive etc.

All this talk of tie fighter. Damn i want to play that game again. Xwing was good, but to be the bad guys and get into the shadowy inner circle with those extra mission objectives evolving all the time. I was going to say goldeneye, but for me tie fighter took a complex genre and made it playable as hell.

These 3 Snes games were truely captivating film tie-ins.

Last Action Hero: Full of action and speed!

Bram Stokers Dracula: Captured the esscence and thrills of the film.

Cliff Hanger: A defining moment in hollywood style gaming.

                Only joking!!!

                  GoldenEye 1... :P

Yeah, GoldenEye definately. Why won't Rare do another license? They might as well try it out? And why won't EA lend their license to Free Radical Design?!

Another vote for Goldeneye, played this game so much it actually pains me to think about it. Time well spent though.

If we include all licenses then WWF No Mercy on the N64 would have to be there too. Best, and deepest wrestling game ever, and the only one that has ever really captured the 'feeling' in IMHO. Playing a 62 minute triple threat ladder match with a couple of friends being the pinnacle.

Another vote for Goldeneye, was just gaming excellence (single player and multiplayer)

                      Second would be KoTOR.

Yeah, I agree with Phresh too; the Asmik wrestling games on the N64 really gave you the feeling of a proper match by having a Spirit Meter instead of the Acclaim ones which had energy bars... matches would go back and forth, especially on hard. Pretty darn cool.

I'm gonna have to say something completely different and go with Treasure/Konami's Tiny Toons: Buster Busts Loose on the SNES. One of the few 3rd party 16-bit platformers that could compete with Mario and Sonic.

The old Turtles arcade game deserves a mention as well.

I think you're forgetting that the thread is about "licensed" games, so it doesn't have to be a tie-in to a particular film (a la Spider-Man etc).

KotOR is brilliant, as is Goldeneye, so are the Tom Clancy games (hey, they're licensed!), will give my verdict on Riddick when it's 'finished'. *ahem*
