Games/levels in games you just cant beat!

I am ashamed to say this but i jus cant beat that helicopter/chopper guardian in Viewtiful joe i think its the 1st level. Ive tried and died many a times..........sigh.........

Also, i cant seem to master Tekkens method of fighting, I have no problems with VF evo, infact i rinse that everyso often. But tekkens blocking system and left right limb buttons give me a headache! Because of this i can only reach a few characters into the game pfft!

still have you ever come to a point where you jus cant get past a certain level or character and as a result thrwon your pad down in frustaration, declaring yourself defeated?

I could never beat Actraiser on the SNES. I do think it's cheap when they make you fight all the bosses again, then a super boss.

Also Gruntilda kicked my ass at the end of Banjo Kazooie.

There is a wind level in the original Otogi, with a boss I just cannot beat, to the point where I gave up on the game altogether. With bosses, its normally a case of identifying a weak point and working off that, but this boss hides a weak point which Ive found very hard to hit without taking a pasting myself.

Blud - you dodge the enemies that it throws out and Slow hit them towars the helicopter, it only takes 2 or 3 hits. If it fires it's vulcan - get behind the vulcan range and run along with the helicopter using mach speed and it cant touch you.

Never. There's always a perfectly easy way to do everything, especially in a game like Joe - the bosses can be pwn3d in a matter of seconds. Last thing that REALLY pwn3d me is this pattern:

I kept at it and now I can do it without moving.

"The Fastest Boat" mission in GTA Vice City had me defeated. I came at that boat yard from all sorts of angles, with different weapons and cars but just couldn't do it.

I think if I had persevered I could have done it - but just found myself driving around instead. Then my PS2 got stolen by crackheads. I still wonder what it would be like to drive that boat...

There are other more shameful than that but I shall save them for another time!

The final Goron dungeon in Majora's Mask. There was no skill to it. It was all luck.

Luckily, it wasn't essential anyway. :/

Beyond that though, I've never given up on a game I was into. My philosophy is that you can only get better at something, and it's a lesson that gaming has taught me all too well. That and patience.

Halo - Truth and Reconciliation - Legendary difficulty

The part where you first go on the ship and get attacked by the invisible gold elites with swords. Tried for hours...

Goeman, I too had trouble with that until I replayed the level from scratch. If you are able to carry the sniper rifle into the ship its a lot easier to take out the elites. Also, when invisible, sneak around planting plasma grenades on the elites when they cant see you. The rest is just done by sniping, strafing and waiting for the right moment. That is one of the hardest parts on legendary you will be pleased to know.

I've mentioned it before, but I just can't get along with the Tekken and Street Fighter series' blocking methods. Soul Calibur and VF4 I'm fine, but I just completely fail to adjust to the other two.

I think that's the mission I gave up at on Vice City as well, by the way; I just find the boats far too annoying to drive, and keep putting them in walls. GTA3 was abandoned at the Ice Cream Stalls mission, because I could never find the final one inside the time limit, and they don't put them on the map. Its stupid trial-and-error game design, and I just couldn't be bothered.

Ghouls 'n' Ghosts on the Speccy, could never get past those falling snowflake things on the last level. It's nigh on impossible.

the last time attack test in GT3, in the RUF Porsche, on the Complex String, got to within 1.8 seconds of the gold time, then spent two days solidly trying (it's a 5 or 6 minute lap) and did it in the end but reckon it took about 10 hours

The first screen of Pitfall 2 on the 2600.

I think it was bugged or something.

Or maybe I'm just rubbish at it.

Same problem for me even with the sniper rifle, just get stuffed every time.

Very very annoying and I promised myself I'd finfish it on Legendary before Halo 2 arrives. We'll see...

Fatal Frame/Project Zero. Not an easy game at the best of times, there's one section, just after you've found the blinding mask and are making your way to the dungeon area to use it to unlock a door, where you find yourself on a balcony overlooking the pit. Cue one ghost. Your movement is restricted to forwards and backwards, running (more like slow jogging, given the character's speed) around and around the ledge. No left/right movement at all, and hemmed in by walls right next to you. The ghost, on the other hand, not only has the ability to float over the pit, but also to float through the ****ing walls.

So you're not just hampered by the fact that you're unfairly restricted in the battle, but also by the way that your enemy can attack you without you even seeing it. Ghost jumps out of wall, attacks, takes off a third of you health, jumps back into wall, jumps back out of wall, attacks, and so on.

And then, when you do finally manage to defeat it (much more through luck than skill), you're immediately jumped by another one in the pit below. Main problem being that, by this time, you've used up all your health potions.

Cue game gathering dust under the bed.
