"creaming in your pants"
If a game supports it properly, you'll see a massive jump otherwise you're just looking at RGB (effectively).

As much as i want Pro Scan, i'm not spending out on a new TV just yes as HDTV sets are just around the corner now. Plus i think that next gen is when we'll see the real benifit of Pro Scan not so much now when alot of games don't even have 16:9 let alone Pro Scan, so i'm not splashing out just yet.

which Hitachi doesnt do Pro Scan, the Alis panel they use just upscales everything to 1024x1024 (or some res like that) which i find gives a nicer pic or did compared to others ive tried.
Admitidly i havnt tried a Panny due to it not being on offer where i had to get my panel from. But i will admit that Pro scan on some other Plasma's is nicer than on Alis panels.Last edited by Pij; 01-10-2004, 13:19.

anephric - I'm really suprised you aren't notiving that much difference. Have you adjusted your CRTs settings for the best viewing, or ket the default? If not, i'll give you mine (Got them off AV forum)
I'm noticing a huge difference on the Xbox and DVD player through Progressive Scan. It must be a little to do with your TV. As I've got the exact same one as you!
I'm preaching to the perverted here so... Prog-scan is not the be-all-and-end-all of PQ: I quite like a 100hz pic (which you don't get in PS) and Pal prog-scan is just horrible (flickery 50hz hell)...
On a CRT at least: I can appreciate peeps espousing their luv of Plasmas and higher Xbox res etc.
I don't own Line of Contact (I'm not touching Live, sorry) but I've got Tekki and it looks better in PS... not a quantum leap. I've had to really get my pc fanboy m8 to look closely for him to notice any difference.

Does anyone know if the next-gen Pal XB and PS3 will support ProgScan?
One other thing, is Pal Prog any different to Ntsc Prog ???
I have a JVC top range t.v that does Ntsc&Pal Prog through the component of course.
I have never tested prog yet, I have a DVD player that supports it.
Am I missing out???

As far as SD goes, PAL prog scan is 576p at 50Hz, while NTSC prog scan is 480p at 60Hz. HD modes on both are the same res, I believe, but still 50Hz or 60Hz.
Certainly, Sky's eventual HD service will still be at 50Hz, so I'm not interested...

Glad you're enjoying the lead mate, Sarkster!
I'm not that fussed about Progressive Scan via Component (e.g. PAL PS2 running Prog Scan via Component); it's better than RGB, but not a huge difference.
However, Progressive Scan via VGA really is utterly mind-blowing (e.g. NTSC Gamecube running Prog Scan via VGA on a CRT PC monitor)! I have no idea whether there is a technical difference between Prog Scan Component vs VGA ... or whether there's a difference between a CRT PC monitor vs TV ... or whether it's mind tricks ... but there is a huge difference in perceived quality.

PS2 Progressive Scan isnt all that impressive anyway compared to RGB...
