The review is pretty poor to be honest, The guy laments the game for being traditional Ridge Racer and not modernised.

I don't think fans of the series will have any worries whatsoever.

Much like the Mr Driller review, they seemed to have marked it down a lot for being too similar to previous iterations of the series.

I was a big fan of RR64, so more of the same will suit me fine.

Asphalt is a port from an N-Gage game which is **** as it is - dont be expecting much.

What people seam to be forgetting is that this is the first batch of DS games, the graphical quality will get better over time when developers learn tricks and how to work with the units strengths.

On the N64 games about the launch included the awful Clayfighter 33 but later on we had graphical greats like OoT. Ok maybe not fair to compare those two but you can hopefully see my point.

I know the PSP will have better graphics but for me the gameplay matters more than what the game looks like, i still regularly play Tetris and that is about as basic as it comes.

Like ginza I think the proof will be in the playing, still think the psp version will be better. Time will tell

Just download the video if you want to see it in motion.

It makes it look even worse than the screenshots.

I`ve downloaded the most recent clips on gamespot and don`t think it looks to bad. Ok so it`s not a patch on the psp version but it still looks like it`s worth a purchase. Seeing that i never played the n64 version i wouldn`t mind trying it anyway.

It looks nice and fast, but with it not been handled by the Ridge racer team i can't really call this a ridge racer game. But when the guys with the ds play it i will gladly sit and listen to see how its panned out.

                              IGN Review is better

                              7.0 Presentation
So we get a five year old, two generations-behind racing game for DS. At least the developers offer a lot of play that use the DS' functions.
                              8.0 Graphics
What looked great 5 years ago looks pretty good in handheld form. Fast and smooth 3D engine that's not quite as techincally impressive as its competition.
                              8.0 Sound
All of the N64's soundtrack is here. Even the hidden old-school stuff.
                              7.5 Gameplay
Very solid racing that's heavy on the drifting...something that the DS' control structure isn't immediately tailored to handle. It's a learning curve, but it's a lot of fun once you get a grasp.
                              8.0 Lasting Appeal
The multiplayer focus is excellent and sets a good example for others to follow. The single player is tough-as-balls and will take a good long while to get everything.
                              7.5 OVERALL:
(out of 10 / not an average)

They point out the game has 6 player wireless racing with only 1 Game Card needed!
