I remember paying mad prices for SFC games:

    Street Fighter 2 Turbo - ?85
    Goemon 2 - ?70
    Mario RPG - ?70
    Secret of Mana - ?70
    Shadowrun - ?65
    Final Fantasy III - ?65
    Super Metroid - ?60

All bought at Solid Gold (Glasgow & Hamilton).

Those were crazy times as i was still at school when purchasing these games. Anybody remember the RRP (?70) of a PAL version of Virtua Racing on the MD, what a f**king joke. All i can say now is , thank f**k for the web!

SNES was the all time ass-stretcher. Still, no SF2? No way. I remember playing through as every character to see each ending, that was before having years of SF experience. Lovely days, I was at school too, xmas and birthday purchases only

Still, when looking at ridiculous use of money I inevitably turn to the motor vehicle. How much in petrol per year? How much does a new one lose in one year? How can they charge me ?80 PER TYRE? Now, turning is great fun, but it's not quite up there with SF2, is it?

Wow, how much did you pay for it? I always use to go in there and admire that systems, i always wanted one but couldn't afford it. Plus the game prices were extortionate.

            OT:
I cant remember solid gold in hamilton for some reason. I always remember runnig down to the new game shop in Wishaw on my lunch break from school to play SFII arcade - we use to run there and run back so we could get a good few games in. I used to hate having to go with no food on my lunch too but it was worth it.

Amazing eh? how fit you are when you were young.

If I recall correctly, the most expensive game I ever bought was Starfox on the SNES for a bargain ?120. In fact, now that I think about it, I used to think nothing of paying ?70 for Mickey's Magical Quest, ?80 for Street Fighter II or ?75 for Super star Wars (all SNES games).

I'll still pay over the odds when I'm too impatiant (picked up that PSP golf game today for ?60) but I'm really cracking down on the spending as of this month.

Those were the day's, i used to play Street Fighter 2 in Airdrie's indoor market. When people found out new move's for a character, they used to keep them to themselves and not tell anybody. I remember paying someone 50p to tell me how to do Chun-Li's Spin Kick.

And then my mate got the game for his Super Famicom, i was totally blown away by it. It's was as close to an arcade version you could get, at that time. After that i stopped going into Airdrie's indoor market to play the arcade version.

, god that brings back memories. I remember studying my pals hand when he was playing to work out how to do moves, I remember playing SFII for the first time on the snes and after that never went back to that store. It closed down about 4 months later -snes killed the arcade!!!1!1!!!!!!!!!
