Gave the magazine a glance over earlier and thought it was overall pretty poor except for the skies of arcadia article which was an excellent read. It also brought back memories of why i enjoyed it and got quite away into it but never finished it and sold it of for for reasons i can`t remember. Then they mentioned the difficulty spikes with some of the bosses and the constant random battles which really grated and then i remembered. But for some reason after reading the article i want to go back and finish it of some day as it was one of the better rpg`s i`ve experienced especially when it came to the characters, story and the overall premise of the game.

i played through the DC version and never encountered any "difficulty spikes", and this is given i'm an average RPgamer at best! Skies Of Arcadia is one of my all time classics and even superior to many FF games in characterisation, story and atmosphere!

the GC version is supposed to have less random encounters - i suggest you give this version a go then!

Its probably me being crap at rpg games then I just remembered struggling on a couple of bosses and some other battles. I was considering going for the cube version but heard the dc version is slightly better visually and audio wise as they messed with some of the music. So i`ll probably just go with the dc version again as it`s also cheaper aswell.

I've got Skies of Arcadia waiting on my shelf, I want to read the article but not if it has any spoliers - does it / should I?

(Same thing happened a couple of issues ago with Eternal Darkness)

Play it (EA). It's a flawed masterpiece. It got 9 in EDGE originally, but was dropped to an 8 so as not to clash with Shenmue's 8. The GC version has slightly greater content, but worse audio.
