Liked the cover and the Wipeout feature.

You'd be hard pressed to know if the Designer's Republic were behind the aesthetic design of Pure or not (they aren't of course, it's more an example of an astute return to the series' identity).

It's good to see Wipeout on the verge of coming back on form.

Bad news: Penn is still in it.
Good news: Biffo is back in column form. With a very scary photo.

Returning to the Wipeout feature... good to hear Photek and Cold Storage are back on the soundtrack.

Overall a strong issue. The change of art style is beginning to bed down at last and not come over as too imposing.

The piece on Nintendo was interesting enough, although I thought The Godfather feature seemed a little pointless to be honest at this stage.

I've not bought it for a couple of years. At first it was hard getting out of the habit but now i wonder why i ever bothered. Stay strong it's good for your gaming soul.

I was at least impressed by the renders. Which of course means absolutely nothing but I was surprised by the quality aesthetics of them - it looks as if they're at least trying.

i was thinking the same this place is too full of people only out to bash stuff get the joy back dudes games are fun and edge is one of the best gameing mags we have next to games tm

                    anyway back on topic

The cover is fantastic real nice spot uv on the front and back and im loveing the wipeout styleing they have got going on, the feature on wipeout is pretty cool too, "a return to how wipeout 2097 plays" couldent be more spot on if it tried

There are some really good reads this issue too (lot of love for yoshi) lol

You really need to see the real thing, though. The tiny jpeg can't convey how monumentally bright that Pantone pink is, and you miss all the spot-gloss bits.

I *believe* it's Pantone Hexachrome Magenta C, spot colour fans.

                          Articles?

Hopefully more imaginative than last month's FPS-fest.

My copy arrived and I had an hour or so reading it yesterday.

There is an excellent "Made in Nintendo" article about the making of the Wario Ware series which was really well written and enthusiastic.

Some strange preview choices in my opinion though - as someone said before a rather early preview of another EA licence... wow cant wait for that.

Massive overgushing (as usual at the moment) 6 page article on Wipeout. Got to the second page of it and wondered what they were going to fill the rest with and skipped it. Although I have never been a fan of the series to be fair (and I didnt realise as many others were either until this version was announced).

I cant help but feel my tastes are drifting from away from edge to be honest. I must skip half of the pages of every issue now especially as we get to hear about another new and exciting FPS or racing game every bloody issue (EDIT: exactly Ady!)

There is so much excitement with the new handhelds and so many new great games coming out at the moment and I think Edge completely fail to capture this at all. Ridge Racer, Wipeout and SM64: DS have been the handheld games they have decided to fill their magazines with - probably the 3 games I am least interested in on their respective systems - all ports/updates to existing stuff we already know about.

EDIT: I will add that I liked their Yoshi review although it could have done with being a bit longer and actually explaining what they didnt like about the game a bit better. We get a massive review on the boring Starfox Assualt and a mini one on Yoshi... makes no sense to me.
