Daytona 2001 is leagues better than MSR and F355 I reckon, both of which I really hated with a passion.

Oh and whoever picked Pen Pen needs to be locked up.

Think it was called the CD-X, and it came on the front of the DC-UK magazine, think it was the one with Tony Hawk Skateboarder 2 on the cover.

Remember walking into our bham CEX when i heard "OH ****! it works!" Not knowing what, i overheard them sayin that imports work with the disc...ran down to whsmith, picked up the mag, then ran back at bought US DOA 2 and JPN SF3 W impact :P

Yeah i had that too, used it with Seaman

I couldn't quite understand it tbh, because why would anyone buy the full version when the demo works just fine?

I remember buying a US Daytona from CEX, but honestly cannot recall a single thing about the game. I must have played it a handful of times, at most. It just appeared at the wrong time for me, at the end of the DCs life. Did it have online play or was that taken out by the then dying Sega Europe?

Nah, the Pal version (of course) was edited! Just like Outtriger, Street Fighter and the many others....

I've only tried the Japan version of Daytona (which is poo). I heard there was a better version with improved handling (US maybe?) but I can't imagine it being that much better.

Yeah i have the JP version (CEX sale ?1.99) the handling is really arse, but apparently they fixed it for the western release. Still a fantastic game, and in 2player is no problem.

If you like puzzle games, I would add:

                      Hanagumi Taisen Columns 2

Also let's not forget Quake 3. It was my first taste of online gaming.

Think it's you that needs locking up, if you think Daytona USA 2001 is better than F355 mate .
As for Pen Pen that was and still is a class multi player game (if it were made by Namco or NCL it would have got rave reviews).

I'll never forget my brother knocking me up at 2AM in the morning when walking home from the pub Just so he could play Get Bass and Pen Pen on the DC (instead of going home to his girlfriend) Pen Pen is a gem of a multi player game.

Don't think anybody talked about Rayman II on the DC. That for me is one of the best 3D platform games ever made , and the DC version still to this day looks stunning (what Textures).

Some other good DC games that can be picked up on the cheap are ..

                          Carrier (well I liked it)
D2 . Best weather effects I've seen and a stunning story and setting (worth getting for the hunting parts alone)
                          Head Hunter
VO II For me the best looking DC game made, and after VF 4 EVO one of the deepest fighters. And still for me SEGA best ever Arcade To Home conversion

Daytona's handling was only dodgy if you used a pad to play it with. It was great with the official wheel.

Daytona's handling on the DC is very demanding and possibly even frustrating. I find that if you increase the steering dead zone it does become more manageable. I tried a using wheel and didn't like it so I just stuck with a pad.

F355 just isn't my taste, the collisions are absolutely laughable, compared to Daytona where they are so enjoyable. Also the music in F355 had me looking for a suicide booth just to make it stop.

It always confuses me as to people's complaints on DC Daytona.

I remember really struggling with the controls being far too over-sensitive when I first played it but after a lot of modification of the sensitivity settings I got it to a point where it felt really good and comparable to the arcade.
