I've just got bomberman and I'd say overall a 7. The Single player would warrant a 5 but the multiplayer makes up the two points for me. Could have been more levels and the bots at times are too good on easy, but they can also be terrible. For example when the time is nearly up they decide to commit suicide or simply stand there until the blocks cover them. However I didn't buy it for the single player mode which is a bit of a chore, however as a multiplayer game it's the best on the DS so far imo.

Also I'm wondering why it's slow too? It seems hectic when I'm playing with my mates, plus when you get those skates x 2 or 3 you seem to fly round the screen.

      <sigh>

I would have settled for a straight (watered down) port of the Saturn game. Would make the 10 player mode a damned sight easier without all those cables. Been tempted to pick it up, but with the negativity, my DS money may have to go to Goemon.

Maybe its diffrent between the PAL and US versions. I will agree the 1 player is not the strongest ever and maybe one of the worst in the series but the multiplayer more than makes up for it IMO.
Yes I have played a PSP but I don't see what that has to do with Bomberman. I was playing a JP copy of Bomberman and the load times for 8 player games were very long. I didn't time them but they felt around 30 seconds + per load, and there are lots of loads.

Unless a game is 100% multiplayer (in which case in this day and age that really does mean supporting online play for when no friends are around) then I don't think you can say it's okay to have a crappy SP game as the MP makes up for it. SP must be there and must be great, the rest is a bonus.

Good lord, Kotatsu... is that... me... agreeing with you? It's cold in here - cold enough for hell to freeze over. So it must be true.

Yep, that's right - we didn't play the multiplayer. I mean, it wasn't the first thing we did when the cart arrived in the office. It wasn't the only thing we played for two days until it became perfectly clear that it's inferior to previous versions of the game. Having an opinion is fine, but you might want to draw that line between having one and quoting your own as fact... there's a difference, you know.

Congrats - it's the most laughable quote ever! The DS uses flash carts - there shouldn't be ANY loading at all, so having to wait for a game to initiate is bad development. To compare it to the PSP and its UMD media is ridiculous...

I have to say this months mag is sheer class. Plenty of great stuff to read whilst topping up the tan .

Might have to subscribe again (if the subs dept have sorted themselves out?)

                  Bomberman DS....

Haven't read the review, don't care about the score. But as with all iterations of Bomberman they muck about with it too much.

Having been exposed to PC Engine Bomberman recently, these are so pure in execution that they've gotta be seen as the best. Although Saturn is good its got those freaking kangaroos and I haven't played that PC version.

DS though does have totally miniscule bombs and everyone is really slow, so in terms of play balance it closer to the PC Engine versions than any other recently.

One cart and eight people has to be the nuts, only managed 5 so far but that seemed fine.

Correct me if I'm wrong but surely the loading (bearing in mind I aint touched Single player mode. if it loads in single player then yeah it's poor programming) but doesn't it need to load in multiplayer so that it can transmit the data (such as the level/players/etc) to the other players? Also It certainly doesn't take 10 seconds to load on mine between rounds? It does however take a while when you first host a game I imagine it's downloading all of the required data to the other DS consoles.

Since we are argueing about the multiplayer that is what i was comparing it with. It takes 10 seconds (ish) to load a 4 player game which when only 1 person has the game IMO is very quick. Of course the 1 player has no load times.

Also i did not say its the best version of Bomberman but still feel it is better than a 6.

Replace "loading" with "wireless data transfer" then, if you want to be picky. If the game allows play with a cart each, and there's still significant wait, then maybe we can talk about bad development.

Do any PSP games allow single-disc multiplayer? I vaguely remember talk of it happening, but I've not actually seen it.
