As Darwock says, although I would mention it looks the same as the PC version, difference being higher resolution etc.

Also I hear the draw distance will be improved on this new version.

60fps aswell, where the pc version was locked to 30fps.

The framerate is not locked by any means, in any version, and I can't see how it will be in the X360 version either. That's just not possible when you've potentially got dozens and dozens of people crowding out Jeuno at any given time.

But these shots are pretty awful, i.e Low res models/backdrops.

I thought the 360 games were going to toast todays 6800/850 XTPE home PC games. I wouldn't say that they even look as good as Far Cry running at 1280 on an old 9800Pro

Are these just very early in development?

Nope, they stated when the X360 version was first announced that any graphical enhancements will be minimal.

PC version wouldn`t go above 30fps just like starwars galaxies, no matter how fast your pc was. They locked it so it couldn`t go above 30fps. Xbox 360 version they were saying over at gaming age was running at 60fps with the odd dip from the people who saw it.

The reason why I am looking forward to this is because I have never had the opportunity to play FFXI as I own a Mac and getting a high-tier PC was out of question, plus the Xbox 360 Live feature will gather players from all over the world to play in the comfort of our living room/bedroom.

The graphics could be better but I am not complaing too much.

I've not been keeping up, but didn't SquareEnix say this was going to be 480 only?

no game for xbox 360 will be 480, 720p/1080i and 4x AA are the set guidelines and if the game doesn`t meet this criterior it simply won`t be released. And for the record it was showing in 720p.

That's not what magic Box are saying:

Square Enix said the Xbox 360 version of Final Fantasy XI will be in 480p instead of 720p; the game will run on the PlayOnline server instead of Microsoft's servers. The game will not support voice chat; but the graphics will be superior to the PS2 and PC version.
I'm not bothered about the look of the game, but no voice chat seems a daft decision. It was the one fundamental factor that would differentiate the game from the other verions. PSO was excellent with voice support.

It'll probably look antiquated when the first built-for-360 MMO comes out

FFXI is simply a very old PS2 game- I didn't think Square would dramatically improve the graphics. It still looks quite atmospheric and well designed- but as someone who's not interested in MORPG's I won't be tempted until something truely astonishing comes along!
