My biggest concern with xbox live is the number of, well, idiots who are on it. I've stopped playing games in random groups because im fed up of americans telling me to "go back to china you stupid english!" (wtf?) and throwing racist insults around left right and centre.

Now, if i was still playing Final Fantasy i'd prob be a bit worried :P

The voice chat isn't something they can actually remove, you can voice chat with your friends list (or a 'party' of people from your friends list) when playing ANY xbox 360 game. this is what part of being xbox live aware is, you can also jump to your friends list at any time during any game and invite more people into the chat.

So, basically you just bump into some players - add them to your friends list once you've asked what the live id is and invite them into a chat party via the xbox live interface.

It's all rather sad and you have to wonder who MS are trying to impress. Certainly not the Japanese who will have been there and done that years ago. And us Westerners are all graphics whores and will dismiss this as the PS2 port that it is.
Nothing to do with the graphics, the game is just plain damn horrible and that's all there is to it. All MMORPGs are designed to be timesinks but by Christ, FF XI abuses the privilige to a outrageously cynical degree with some of the dullest combat in the history of the genre, missions that tend to be vague beyond belief and a crafting system devised on the seventh level of Hell.

A wretched excuse for a game. Lovely character design, however, and the sub job idea is certainly an interesting one.

I'm giving you a 'WTF', the dullest combat system? from all the mmorpgs i played months on end or just tested bit to see if liked them, this game by far and away has the best combat system on any mmorpg and for the most part is well balance between the many jobs, something no other mmorpg has.
