In anticipation for Mario Kart I:
-Got braodband
-Bought a wireless router (so my sister can share access)
-Bought a DS

Mario Kart is ALWAYS the catalyst of sorts. When it was announced on GC I went and bought one (with the promise of Wind Waker too, of course), same for GBA. I bought a SNES for the game and, well, the N64 for Mario 64 but same ballpark eh?

Can't wait for this game, shall I preorder today and hope it comes on the Friday or just go and buy it on the Saturday? Hmm (if it doesnt come on the Friday I'll have to wait til the monday because I stay over the missus house on the weekend. Decisions..)

I use WPA which I thought was pretty standard and better than WEP (although I don't really know much about it). Certainly both my laptops and a usb wireless dongle I have support it.
It'll be a right arse switching the router over whenever I want to use the DS. I might have to investigate WEP

WOO WOO! I am buzzing. The last game I preordered was Mario Kart DD on the Cube, and 1080 Avalanche at the same time. That was in 2003!!! TODAY I CHANGED THAT! I just preordered from Amazon and I can't frigging wait. This game is gonna **** my bank account up (yes I'm that stuffed) but I want it. Shame I can't afford the USB adaptor, but I will have to find a cozy pub to sit in.

EDIT: How far away from a wifi hotspot can I be to pick it up? I have about 8 in a 0.3 mile radius of my office...

I actually cancelled my tesco cheap pre-order and did one over at gameplay instead, just for the thursday delivery.

WPA is supposed to be more secure than WEP, but you can always change it back after play. I use WEP & make my details & the fact I'm wireless invisible. Seems to work, when I scan for wifi spots, mine never shows up, although others do. Also it's best to change the name (if scanned for, it'll tell you the name of your router) if people know what router you have it's easier for them to hack it?

Aye, losing WPA isn't the end of the world. Turn off SSID broadcasting and someone needs to know it to connect, the WEP key is still there (pick a random one, not c0de c0de c0de c0de) and for even better security enable MAC address control. Only registered MAC addresses (say PC and DS) will be able to connect then.

Anyone breaking that lot down has too much time on their hands and will be easily spotted as the anaemic 16 yr old sat in a knackered vauxhall nova outside the front of your house.

*sigh* I ordered it from Movietyme since my Yes Asia copy won't get here until the end of the month, and I can't cancel it.

Has anyone else decided to wait for the Jap version or just crazy me.
It will be intresting to see what the boxart is like , i have only seen the Us one, even play asia show the US art with the E sticker for the jap release,

But really i wonder if it will have some qwerky humour like jap n64 mario kart had with "Mario-o-boro" signs and the like.
