Underwhelmed by 360?

I cant belive so many people dont like the look of the up coming games like, Condemned, gears of war and saints row. I mean ok they might not be the most original of games but how many Xbox and PS2 games are that innovative and original.

Gears of War is the stand out 360 game (for it's visuals) at the moment by quite some margin... but Saint's Row..?!

I saw some shots recently and thought it looked abysmal. Would be mediocre for an Xbox 1 let alone anything more advanced. Looked like a lame 'me too' San Andreas 'gansta' game too. Very boring.

Nah gotta disagree there - I wasn't overly impressed with Saints Row originally (around the time GAMES ran there cover article) but watched a video the other day and it looks much, much more impressive now. Deffo one I'll be keeping an eye on.

I think also 360 is about more than just games this time if M$ are to be believed. I for one will be taking a day or two off work around launch to soak it up.

I'm a little worried about the 360 launch myself, as it supposed to be hitting stores worldwide in two months, but we're not seeing as much of the games as I thought I would be by this point. I remember picking up a PS2 at launch and being underwhelmed for the first few months though, so I'm sure the situation will be rectified in due time. The law of diminishing returns will make this a more evolutionary than revolutionary gen though, as many people have been saying.

The next generation is unesseccary, at least 360 is pointlessly early, xmas 2006 wouldve maybe been worth it.

Honestly though what is the point in buying 360 when it comes out....what does it do?

You really need to watch the new developer interview on gamespot. This game looks fantastic esspecially the physics engine. Yes it is a total rip off of GTA but who cares GTA was good anyway and this jsut seems to improve upon an already good idea.

Baseley I kinda agree with you on that, seems to me the Xbox has arrived suspiciously close to a time when HiDef is being cited as the next big thing, plasmas and hidef screens are now at consumer affordable levels, cable companies providing HD services, perhaps M$ are aiming to ride this tide with the 360. Gameswise perhaps theres nothing new here, but as a multimedia centre at a attractive pricepoint the masses may see it as a worthwhile investment that fits many needs and not just a games console.

I've been impressed with what I've seen of the 360 so far but I won't get one at launch. While the launch games look good none are must haves for me at the minute. I'm a RPG fan and their still plenty to come this gen I don't expect to see any next gen RPGs until early 2007 so if I get a 360 at launch I'll spend more time playing RPGs on my PS2. But marcus is right in that I do find the 360s media capabilities very interesting and at the minute I'll get a 360 early next year for gears of war.

Meh, right now I don't care about anything next gen. Sure, many of the games previewed look very pretty, but I don't see anything particularly original, fresh or innovative. I only got my Xbox at the start of this year so I've got plenty of games still to play for that, as well as picking up the odd new GC title here and there.

TBH I play my DS and Saturn way more than anything else at the moment!

I suppose I am being negative and dismissing things before I've read reviews or played them, but there's no point in faking interest in something.

I'm not excited about any of the upcoming consoles except for the Revolution. Most games just seem too dark and boring to interest me.

Kameo and Perfect Dark Zero should be quite good when they are (eventually) released. It seems like an ok system just not very exciting, it doesn't seem like too much of a step up. There are a bunch of Gamecube games coming out in the next 6 months anyway. Maybe next christmas...

damn it people whats with all the negativity going on here? people are bitching about the xbox360 before its even come out not even giving MS a chance, people should leave these opinions until the console has been out for a while. Not many console launches have triple A amazing games and the 360 probably won't be no different but what i do see is a solid launch line up which shouldn't be sniffed at.

How is the 360 pointlessly early? i remember some saying the same thing about the DC and i wouldn't call it pointless, would you? The DC came early but provided me and many others with some of the best experiances of this gen that the later console couldn't match, who knows the 360 could do the same. Also i'm tried of hearing people say that the next gen is coming too fast and that this gen is finishing too quickly...blah blah blah etc, take a reality pill people the DC came out in 1998 thats 7 years ago, the ps2 in 2000, and if your looking at it in terms of xbox and GC they've already had 4 years, some may believe that they are getting passed too early, but thats because they came onto the scene too late.

The time is right for the next gen to kick off and if your not ready to embrace it then you'll just lose out.
