Everything you've seen on the PS3 at the moment is PRE RENDERED videos, not running on actual hardware. Most launch games we've seen for the 360 have been rushed to get to the november Launch date.

Gears of War looks great though

      correct?
You'll get the 640 or what ever it is Res. It's still going to look a hell of a lot better than current XBox games.
In just the same way people can see the leap the X-Box is over the DC

Not much to say the truth.
I'll get DOA 4 for the graphics show if nothing else. Then if they make it in time, I'm quite looking forward too Kameo, PD0, and PGR3

Well for the 360, it may not be the Best Line up, but its far from being crap. You've got Kameo, PDZ ( still haven't seen offical announcements of it being delayed). PGR3 (EA are talking ****e, ' Hey, PGR3 is delayed, so instead go buy NFS!),COD2, GR3, Oblivion etc.

C'Mon all console launches are lacking when it comes to games, the expectation to the rule was the X-Box .
I remember getting the Saturn and DC on their JP launch (with only VF, VF3 and PenPen worth getting) . Every Hardware launch is the same.
Why people are making out this is like something new with the 360, I just do not know

We'll see what we'll get from PDZ From X05, I cant help but feel that the shots we've seen is Xbox/alpha stuff forcefully thrown out by Microsoft to give word of PDZ.

spot on mate! the only exeptional console launches i can remember were way back in the early ninties with snes/mario world and megadrive/sonic combo's.

The fact we're not talking a normal generational leap, and only a refinement of what we essentially already have is precisely the reason we should be slowing down to add three or four more years on to the current cycle (which thanks to Microsoft may shorten from six to four years).

I know I'll break eventually and have to get a PS3 and 360. I just lack the enthusiasm right now to have my breath taken away in the same way the likes of Wipeout and Super Mario 64 did to me in the past.

We need to approach each generation with a fresh outlook. What we have with the 360 and PS3 is a continuation... a turning of the page of the games we're already playing. While that's to be expected, it doesn't stop me hoping that we'll be slapped across the face with something unexpected.
I agree to an extent, but isn't the current generation just an extension of the last? The PS2 launched with just updates of Playstation games, as did the Dreamcast (pretty much). Every new generation of consoles is simply an extension of the last, apart from when we hit the 32bit era with 3D.

The only console to do anything particularly new in the past ten years is probably the DS.

I would have to to say i`m more than happy with the launch line up of the 360. PGR3 is the must have game of the launch line up for me and is the only game out of the lot i would class as truely next gen at the moment.

Perfect dark zero i`m looking forward to and am sure rare will pull it together for launch and will look great as rare generally produce top notch looking games.

Kameo is shaping up very nicely and am looking forward to it.

Ridge racer 6 should hopefully be shown in some sort of form next month and is another must have for me.

I`m sure towards the end of october when developers have had time to get their titles on the final kits and in a more finished form will we start to become more impressed with xbox360 titles graphically.

what fresh perspective though??? there is 2d and 3d and nothing more aesthetically! so all we'll ever see is "a turning of the page" as you put it.

thats really what made the original playstation so exciting, it was the first competant 3d gaming platform(and the last REAL advance in gaming aesthetics).

                              i think of it

From my POV most hardware launches have come with at least one title which alone makes me want to purchase the console, Ridge 5 for the PS2, Halo on the Xbox, Ridge Racers on the PSP for example. To date theres not any games which have tempted me to preorder as yet, the closest has been the Test Drive game which sounds like a great concept, I expect when more is seen of Ridge that will sway me. As an aside, its surprising just how many times a Ridge title has featured in a console launch isnt it.

Im not expecting any major breakthroughs with the 360, Im expecting more of the same but hopefully done better than before. Id argue that the Xbox was revolutionary because of its homebrew aspects, Id love for there to be a homebrew scene as there is on the Xbox, I imagine MS will lock things down a lot tighter this time round though.
