As for the mighty Sony falling, I'm sure the fact that they are leader in the home console market by quite a clear margin makes up for their 'fall'

      Sony PSP "Ponce White" PSP1001K

If ever a gadget was best suited to deep black then it's the PSP.

I'd have that white GT PSP, looks awesome.

I do still prefer the black unit although it does look aweful covered in finger prints.

White is a very difficult thing to make pretty. Apple manage it by covering the white plastic with a thick layer of highly glossy transparent plastic, which makes it look encased.

Pure white plastic can look a bit naff, and soon look grubby too.

I'm somewhat encouraged by Nintendo's new design direction with the Revolution (as opposed to the ugly brick that is the DS, or the lego toy box that was the Cube), but they too have fallen into the white trap. It just smacks of 'me too!'. Rev looked better in black, and although I haven't seen the white PSP in person, from the photos I'm prefering black.

If only someone could just pay (and pursuade) Apple to design their console for them, then at last we'd have a machine which really looks pretty, uncluttered, and minimalist.

Had more time with this morning. IMO, pictures don't do the white PSP enough justice because it does look better in the flesh. However, first, we had the infamous square button "incident" with the regular PSP, now it seems, Sony seem intent on following the trend by making the "down" on the digital pad suspect as welll; having to really press down on the pad when playing Winning Eleven is disappointing.

I can see me getting quite annoyed with this, so I switched to the nub and actually found the controls a bit more refined, but still...

Apple did a console I think...Pipin or something.

Doesn't VC have an Easy Operation (EO) setting for the moves? (Sorry to deviate from the topic a bit.)

Yeah it does but it's a bit crap. It's far too too easy and takes the fun out of the moves. It shouldn't to have an EO mode - it's a real shame that the layout doesn't suit fighters.

They did, with Bandai wasn't it? Total disaster it was too.

That was long before they discovered design though.

                      Ooooh! Mine just arrived!

Edit: And I'm dead pixel free! Phew! Could there really be any truth in the idea that dodgy batches have been shipped to Europe?

It's very pretty! All of the buttons seem to be raised higher, which makes them much easier to use. Overall, so far, it's good!

Any problem with the down function on your digital pad mate?

Well nothing major yet although, if I tap it very lightly, it won't register whereas the other directions will. It really has to be very light though - I'll have to use it more in-game to see if I have a real problem with it.

Hey Guys, Mine arrived yesterday too from yesasia and Im loving it!

No dead pix and all buttons/dpad work 100%,the raised buttons/dpad are a big improvement over my black jap unit too

Black/white units side by side,I would say the black unit looks more stylish, white has a slightly cheaper look to it - but I must say the screen really stand out more with the white surrounding!

The white one looks a little thicker to me. It's not but it seems true what they say about black being slimming. After having a good go of it there seems to be a little more going on than first was apparent to me. Yes, the buttons are raised higher but, overall, the control feels much nicer.

Perhaps it's simply that I forgot how my black PSP felt when I first got it but I doubt it as I noticed right away that the shoulder buttons were unresponsive on my black one. With this one, the shoulder buttons seem much improved and even the analogue nub seems better - it seems to have a little more resistance. Wipeout Pure seems so much smoother with it. I'm really liking it. Of course the fact that I can't put emulators on it means I'll probably end up playing my black one more but I do love that white PSP.

About the same as mine really.
