Sweet, Halo 2 to be improved. Maybe we'll get an ending this time

If only they'd spent 6 months working on Halo 2's single player

Oh man, this is one-liner heaven

Aye, from the looks of it they've spent most of their time on mutiplayer and not the single player.

I didn't mind Halo 2's single player (I'm in a minority but I think it's art design is superior to Halo if not in solidity with regards to technology). It offers a different, more inconsistent experience to Halo, but I found the characters and progression at certain points more engaging.

Halo and Halo 2 both offer different types of single-player experience.

One thing which I didn't like however was the feeling that I was only experiencing half a game if I didn't play on multiplayer. Halo felt far more complete with regards to this.

But then, I've expressed the reasons why in the Xbox Live thread in General Gaming.

Yeah, the halo 2 mutiplayer is pretty decent, but its the mutiplayer is what saves it. But lets not change this into another Halo vs halo 2 thread.

I was only thinking the other day (mid-frottage) about Bungie optimising Halo 1/2 for 360. Serendipity. Can't beat a bit of it. Fixing the pop-in would be like manna from heaven.

If you watch the DVD that came with the special edition. It shows you that Bungie spent FAR too long in the design stages and only had 10 months left to do the game. Literally started in Nov/Dec 2003 and finish for Oct 2004. They had to cut out LOADS of stuff that was intended to be put in the game.
And Joe Staton should be fired right now. His narritive was responsable for driving the level design, and his stupid story was down right aweful. Resi 4 is a good example of structuring the naritive around the design of the levels.
Ashley is 'kidnapped' for sake of relieving the player of playing baby sitter, this is to provide a bit of variety

                Come on Bungie
yep, full screen co-op gaming is all i really need! i would even wet my pants if i was able to play co-op via system link!

but i don't have high hopes for it. most likely we are just in for some graphic patches including 720p support (if the Xbox 360 doesn't do it by default when connected to a HDTV).

Heck, 720p mode is enough to get me exicted.

I hope it's true, it would show MS really using their heads and making the most of the emulation situation their stuck in... using it to their advantage. In a sense, if the PS3 only runs PS1/2 games as-is, then MS's solution could arguably be better once compatiblity it up to scratch.

i wouldn't get too excited about 720p support because it would just be upscaled from 480 to 720 lines. there will be no additional graphical details at all. i reckon that is what most likely happens to every xbox to 360 port.

I don't see how a resolution change on the XBox is different from a resolution change on the PC...
Obviously the textures will be the same resolution of course.

I hope there will be a widescreen 16:9 option in Halo 1 & 2 with 720p support for XBOX 360.

                        That will be fine.

                          Question :

Who the **** exactly is the "Halo Triple Pack" aimed at ? The only demographic I can think of is the imminent xbox live adopter and there can't be that many pre-360 ??? Surely they'll be battering the live 2 month codes & probably already own H2 ?

It'll be for the ps2 turncoats who are fed up of waiting and have jumped the nextgen bandwagon and want to experience the halo series

As it's emulated rather than ported, they are limited to what they can do - they can improve the graphic texture filtering, resolution and add some AA into it. but they can't add any more polygons or new game modes/features.

Having said that, if you read some old Halo2 interviews you'll see they mentioned the engine was designed with next gen consoles in mind - so maybe they are porting it in which case it could be Halo 2.5.

I've never noticed the pop-in except in some of the cutscenes. Is it really that big a deal?
