I never really paid much attention to Allard & Co banging on about the whole achievement thing, but now I've seen it first hand I think it's a sweet idea. Whilst some games, such as PGR3, have pretty standard achievements that are obtainable just by progressing through the game, others, like Quake 4 for example, have some more interesting set of goals. I was checking the achievements list on the dash and unbeknown to me I had completed a level without taking any damage, and another by just using one weapon. Such a simple feature might add a little replayability to some games that probably wouldn't get a second look in, especially with the whole intergrated Live aspect - there's bragging rights at stake!

Has anyone else achieved any interesting goals?

Not really so far - I'm desperately trying to get "one minute without shooting" on Retro Evolved, but its **** buttingly hard. At about 50 seconds it goes mental. Shows how great the sticks are though, offers such a great level of control.

Somehow my rep has gone above 3 stars too - but only by a little bit! Not sure how I managed that. http://live.xbox.com/member/PeteJ

Basically, the rep works on players you prefer (I think?!?) so you file a player review, choose "prefer this player" the rep goes up.

Surely it's not possible to be **** at ALL games?

Kameo has it badly implemented, rewards just for completing the game... I'm on 305 at the moment, how is everyone else doing?

I've got that one unlocked, it's pretty easy until around 50 seconds then like you said, it goes crazy and all the following little things are right on your tail.

Once you manage it you'll hear a tone - but it wont register as an achivement until you finish that game, as in - lose all your lives. I quit back to the main menu as soon as i managed it the first time and was gutted when it didn't register!

Yeah Kameo is pretty generous. Geometry Wars is where it's at. Every achievement point there is very hard earned.

I'm 155 at the moment, but I've not put nearly enough time into any of the games.

                        Achievements...

So what do they actually do?

Obviously bear in mind that I never read instructions, so I was under the impression that they gave you credits that you could spend in the market place. Is that correct?

If that's the case, then its pretty good. If not, then what's the point...

Condemned is quite good at achievements.

Just got up to 360 now thanks to it!!
