A while back a whole cult of three NTSC users had a Mr. Driller topic going an I wondered if Drill Land would get reviewed. Anyway its been a while and I wonder if its still in the works or have it been moved on to bigger and better things.

I hear you, I just finished level one last week and I was so happy. No level 2 seems to own me....I personally wouldn't rate it a 10. What I do love is the music and those choice little animated sequences.
The voice acting albeit Japanese is top notch too. But the Drill Parade is wierd. Haunted drill house is great. Drill world tour is great. Drindy's adventure is classic. The Draruga RPG bits were tough but in time it got easier. Still I understand your dilema about rating it.
On the che musashi scale of Drill game greatness I'd probably give it an eight. But that's because I think Mr. Driller is the ****. But on the NTSC scale it probably is a 6/7 eh? Either way I eagerly look forward to your review.
Somehow it connects to Mr. Driller Ace, but I don't know how yet. I do know Amazing Pacteria is difficult and fun in Mr. Driller Ace, but as to its connectivity features that I'm not sure of.

I haven't tried Mr. Driller G, I'd like to see how it compares. I was trying to not be too biased with my drill love with the 8, but for sure its a 9.
I seem to waste all my Drill money on cards, and tchotchky(sp) items. The cheats I don't really want to be bothered with. Am I the only catching the copious amount of Disney style references, or has anybody else?
This game has the best music ever!

The music is superb. Taiko no Tatsujin (sp?) has the Mr Driller theme tune, with the Mr Driller characters mucking around on the screen in the same design style as Drill Land.
Not really noticed the Disney references, other than the obvious one of it being set in a theme park.
The 'inspirations' for the game variations are shameless though
DrIndy Adventure, and the space one with the score board layout nicked from Star Trek TNG

Recently picked this up also. Level 2 is owning me also hehe. I think Daruga's dungeon's gotta be my favourite just because of that cute little bone dragon. The music is really catchy too, especially the haunted mansion level. I just find my self humming that tune everywhere I go.
It is a very hard game to rate as theres just 5 variations of the same game so I'm not sure what I'd give it, but compared to the driller games I've played (Ace and a playstation version which i can't remember the name of) it definately gives the most replay value.

Yeah last night I almost cleared Level 2 Haunted Drill House. Also I was sort of in the zone on Star Driller when I hit the 400m mark. At one point while playing I did develop a sort of rhythym.
The best bit of advice to remember is to get the solid blocks to fall together in groups of 4. I don't know of that sounds right, but basically make it so that four of them collide at the same time and they'll disappear. Graphically I really think this game is top notch.
The Playstation game was Mr. Driller, the Japanese one was Mr. Driller Great.

And I'm on my way to getting hooked up with Mr. Driller 2 for GBA. Ultimate Driller collection here I come.
Something clicked and I went through all the level 2 games except Druaga, which I'm having big trouble with. There aren't enough red drystals during the boss encounter...
PeteJ - this may as well be in discussion yeah
