Just finished level 1 - is there any way of replaying the Ultimate Driller level? I found that really exciting for some reason; the desperate final few seconds were great

Can't say I like the music on level 2 as much as the first

Oh yeah, is there any point buying Goods? I have a fair few, but I'm not quite sure why I bother with them. Have almost all the cards though (well, half). Also, Items, what do they do?
I bought level 1 World Tour and on the Stamp scorecard there is a little Mr Driller beside lvl1...

The items give you certain things during the levels, most of which are fairly obvious from the icons. That's not the stamp scorecard you're looking at by the way, it's the goods card. Items appear on there when you buy them. If you go into a level that you've bought goods for, you'll be asked yes or no if you'd like access in order to use them. I presume this means that it also won't let you save your score or whatever by using them, though I'm not sure as I've never used them.

I completely agree, like Drill Wordl Tour is missing the kids choir until you hit 500miles! Anyway as for the Driller DX mode you can't replay that until you beat all the levels again, which suddenly seem much more difficult, level 2 that is.

Also with the goods I buy them just because and I marvel at my Mr. Driller models and my miniscule but interesting card collection.

To those wondering, the review is still coming but I've been doing some really ****ty hours at work and I can't feel I can do it justice feeling as crappy as I have been.

It'll be here soon enough though.

Well, lets hope the positive views expressed here don't influence your review in any way.

            9/10.

Yeah Burai you should be objective (10/10) when you review it...

And if anyone can find it, I highly recommend Mr. Driller 2 for GBA. Time attack mode is handheld crack.

Oh yeah and about the aformentioned goods earlier, you can buy cheats for levels, but I haven't really bothered to yet.

Ok, I've been playing Mr Driller on the PS1 - is the GC game more of the same? Bigger & better?

I'm seriously addicted man - this is a drug..

For clarification regarding the memory card issue - you cannot save Mr Driller Drill Land using the Freeloader.

The Freeloader doesnt save in JPN format ever, even if you set the region to JPN which explains why the text is garbled and messed up on some JPN games.

Usually this is ok because the games just save to the memory card fine however it seems Mr Driller checks for a JPN formatted card and if it isnt in that format it attempts to format the card. Therefore you cannot keep a save on there unless it is formatted in JPN format and Freeloader cannot do this, nor can it read from a card which is JPN format.

I found this out after modding my cube and then being unable to use any of the saves which Freeloader had made.

I have not seen any other JPN games with this problem however...

So, does that mean if I got a friend with a modded cube to format a memory card in JPN format for me, Mr Driller would then work on my unmodded US cube with Freeloader? Or would Freeloader not accept the kosher JPN formatted card?

One Piece Treasure Battle has the same problem on a US cube with Freeloader. Works fine on a Jap cube obviously. Just won't save on the US cube. Switched cube is the only way people!

You consider Drill Land that version on steriods going to 11. It has multiplayer which is nice, a good story mode with some decent cinemas, and pretty much endless replay value. I'm fortunate to be playing it on a modded Q so I experience no problems loading saving etc.

Also as a bonus I've mentioned it before here too, but it was a while ago it links up to Mr. Driller Ace the GBA driller game somehow. I have to take a day and go to my local import shop and see if they could help me figure it out. My favorites have to be Drill World Tour, Haunted Drill House and Star Driller. I basically bought the game for Haunted Drill house and ended up digging everything else.

A long time ago I had a link with movies of it in action but I can't seem to find them now.

Edit I did manage to find some screens:
                        Cube Europe Screenshots

Yeah baby - I'm digging that.

Time to reach for the credit card again I think

Linking up to Mr Driller A. You can transmit your extra distance over in order to buy stuff, or you can also transmit your collected Pacteria evolutions over so you can use them as new instruments in the Drill Land Parade. Nothing spectacular, but good for if you play A on the train/bog a lot and want to collect all the goods and items in Drill Land.

I was joyfully listening to the theme tune and accidently deleted my save game.

                              Argh!

I'll have to do it all again.

                              Yay

One stupid thing. The 1920s Driller theme isn't in the sound test. So I have to do a level or stick the DC version on for some hardcore ivories action.
Hmmm I wonder if "hardcore ivories action" will generate any more site hits than usual...
