That scared me the first time it happened. I thought the update had bricked my 360.

Thanks for the update MS! You've ****ing bricked my machine!

4 times switching it on I've had the 'ring of death' and on other couple occassions, the screen has become distorted and pixelated. >_<

Great, on the week before Ghost Recon and Fight Night, bastards.

Do wonder if these updates are having an adverse effect on some machines. Mine was always dodgy and would freeze going from guide to dash in game etc, but it was only immediately after the first big update that it started to freeze up completely, and then died within a week !

Get your call in Monday m8, you'll have the coffin tuesday and a new machine by Thursday if your lucky !!!!!

Thursday night all was well. Download the update this morning and RR6 wont load.

Tried every different way and it just stays at the NOW LOADING screen with the green honeycomb behind it for ever, with no noise coming from the 360.

                Hope MS are reading this.

Thing is it doesn't seem enough to send it back for,so i'm shafted, and pissed off.

I just turned on my 360 for the first time in a few days (no games to play and I only turned it on last time to download the Oblivion trailer) and it asked me if I wanted to download the update. I clicked on yes and it downloaded, reset and loaded up. I started to download the Burnout trailer and the screen went checkered.

I rebooted and got 3 red flashing lights only. I tried again a couple of times and got an error screen with E79. I phoned MS and it is an internal fault, the lady asked me to remove the h/d, unplug everything and wait 3 minutes. The machine booted without the h/d and the lady started to process the replacement h/d. While I was on hold the machine crashed, with the chequred screen, so a replacement console has now been ordered.

I am getting the empty box on Tuesday and have to return mine before I get a replacement. It can take up to 10 days

I had just booked off Friday so I can play Ghost Recon (if it is released then) and am now stuffed.

I had a release day XBox with a manufacture date of 21-10-05.

Whats the warranty like on these things? they seem to be dropping left right and centre.

Fastest way to get it replaced is to take it back to the point of purchase and get a new one.

I was playing RR6, then I wanted to go online, so it said I must update. So I let it do it's thing, and then it reset. RR6 loaded again, but said I had no profile, then my 360 said there wasn't a HD.

I then turned it off, and back on. Fortunately everything was back to normal, and RR6 has my save and everything is fine!

did the same to me except deleted my save... there's 2 saves on the hdd, one having my first save (and the most data) the other my newer one i couldn't be arsed to play as much.

any chance of recovering the first save?? it'll mean i don't have to trudge through the first 1/3 of the game again.

Didn't know this - they only have 2.5Meg to play with in terms of updates, if they wish to keep compatibility with Core users.
