Can anyone tell me whether Defender allows you to use left and right on the joystick instead of the dumb "reverse" and "thrust" buttons in the arcade original? If so, I might be tempted ...Comment

Yes it does - sometimes you end up reversing when you don't intend to because of it.
But why don't you just d/l the trial version and find out for yourself?

Yeah, I gave it a whirl. Its very much a kids game, but I kinda found it quite good fun. Theres two parts - a racing game, and a tractor tipping game. The racings not going to give RR too many worries, but it was ok none the less. Bit easy. The tractor tipping was odd, you basically had to drive up to "sleeping" tractors and then honk your horn and they'd fall over - while watching you dont get caught by the big tractor. Graphics were nice and sharp and the sound effects gave me a quick giggle. I wouldnt pay money for the full game though!Originally posted by DavidHollissComment

you having ratings for mobility and protection - wear more armour and you go slower and vice versa. Loving the customisation options for your weapons, you can choose which scopes you want whether laser, optics etc etc - tons of options (some weapons are locked until you reach certain ranks)
Bit jerky when you are spectating, but in-game has been lag free. Seen some good tactics in the team mode upto now, there are different points of entry so you can have a team rapelling in, whilst another team go through the doors and another drops down the elevators.
Finding the grenade button locked to B a pain in the arse - would have been better to go the CoD2 way imo, with different shoulder buttons for flag and smoke/flash .. but thats my only complaint upto now.
Terrorist hunt is great - the AI is very aggressive on normal mode, but showing some good tactics. The AI will scarper if you are overwhelming them, and then attack from a different direction. they will use smoke and flash to try to flush you out, and then rush you. Blind firing works well, possibly a bit too well, and the cover system in this game is every bit as good as GoW.
All in all, next week can't come quickly enough
PS in attack/defend I saw a really good tactic poorly implemented. One guy had picked a shield instead of a main gun, and he was kneeling down providing cover for two of his buddies - we just couldn't get to them and they were firing shots from either side. Worked well until one of our guys fragged them from behind.Comment
