That is so poor it's untrue. An UPDATE is the Xbox Live Arcade Wednesday release? Jesus, as brilliant as they are sometimes they are so ****ing stupid.

That is exceptionally poor, especially after the email MS sent last week listing about six titles as "coming soon" to XBLA.

What are you guys on? Like you haven't got enough games to play on the 360 at the moment? People are moaning in the other thread about too many games bunched together at this point in the year and you want more arcade titles?

Personally I'm happy nothing's getting released. I've barely touched Small Arms and judging from the lack of responses in the first play thread, I'm not alone.

MS ****ed up with their '50 titles by year end' promise, but now we are here I'd rather the hold off the arcade titles for the quiet period after Christmas.

And now we're used to an arcade title every week, we get hissy if we have to wait a week? During the busiest period of gaming for a couple of years? Sorry guys, but sometimes I think us gamers don't know our arses from our elbows.

XBLA isn't really competition to full releases, they're largely throw-away games to play after the main event, also perhaps not everyone bought small arms ( I didn't ) or are even the same people complaining in the other thread.

I think the problem is MS have said we've loads of games to release to arcade and Wednesday is arcade release day, then they release a patch as the weekly release. Patches should be released when they're ready not as arcade Wednesday replacement - it was even announced on Major Nelson as such.

In better news, well if you're wanting more Retro XBLA stuff, Double Dragon with Co-op is coming at some undisclosed future date to market place.

I disagree that it's a patch, it's an update. A patch is to cure bugs, glitches and exploits. Although it does cure some online exploits, the primary reason seems to be gameplay enhancements.

Plus it's a free update to a game that most of us got completely free anyway. I certainly wasn't expecting an update to this title, so this was a pleasant suprise.

Also, MS never said that we would get a new game every Wednesday, we've just assumed that because recently the games have been coming nearly every week. I don't think this update has replaced any title, it's more likely that they aren't ready.

I disagree that XBLA isn't competition to full releases, there are only so many minutes in the day. I can personally say that I've spent far less time on Small Arms and Defender than I would have if the release schedule had not been so busy. As many have said, Small Arms is very similar to Smash Bros, a game that is definately not 'throw away'.

Good news about Double Dragon though.

I've spent no where near the amount of time on arcade titles as full releases - I personally don't see them as competition, more an After-Eight mint, but I also meant in terms of cost - ?5 is nothing compared to ?40 for a full release.

Microsoft might not have explicitly stated a new game every Wednesday, but people have come to expect it, and Microsoft have been banging on about how they've got dozens of games ready to rollout, except they're not.

Not everyone has the same taste in games, so there may have been 100s or 1000s of people looking forward to a new release and why not? Perhaps these people missed out on the 48 hour download - not everyone owned an 360 at the time.

And patch/update? That's just symantecs. It's still patching problems/issues people had with the game, which was free for 48 hours - but I don't really see how that's relevant anyway.

They now have the Wii weekly updates to go up against and thats normally more than one title.
They have to step up their game

                    I don't agree.

The XBLA games are enchanced versions, often with Live play options. The Wii ones are just straight emulations, are they not?

Quite happy with the spread of releases. Waht does come out is quality, not some rushed half arsed version. For example Defender is about as perfect as i can remember the original. I expect Battlezone to be treated with similar respect.

Not been mentioned yet, but, Poker update is up. Downside being, after the update, for the moment it can't find any games.

They may not have said we'd definitely get one every wednesday but they did say that was the target, the idea. This patch/update could have come out any day.

They banged on and on for ages about how they'd hit 50 (was it 50? Can't remember the exact number) titles out by the end of the year, then when they realised they couldn't make that target they just decided to say they wouldn't then play down that they ever said they would.

It was free for 48 hours, yeah most of us got it. But it's a damn PATCH for a game most got free.

The "Xbox live arcade wednesday" release is a patch for a free game

XBLA Wed should be an exciting weekly event, an update / patch for a game isn't exciting. It's almost like we should be thankful for it, if anything there should be more regular patches for 360 games.

I want to see new, fun arcade titles. I'm quite happy to spend 400 to 800 points on a game even if I only play it a night, I used to blow far more than that in a single night at the arcade. What we've had so far though have been some average games, and some dire conversions of classic games - they even managed to mess up Contra!
