any progress with homebrew? it's more powerful than the gp2x innit, and the dpad/buttons are great. just needs streets of rage (yeah i know gp2x and psp do it but i want it 60fps with sound thankyoumuch) and i'd snap one up in a shot, whatever the price
Well the Mega Drive emu was infact worked on by a team at Gizmondo who were making a Mega Drive classics pack. The coding was very good and was leadked onto the internet, its been modified and can now play just about any Mega Drive game perfectly. However i think i am right in saying the emu does not have svae states, but it runs at full speed with full sound.

billy_dimashq the satnav software is extra, it was about ?100 for the 2006 version but you can now pick the console and the sat nav software up from Comet for that (with a memory card and demo). As i said the sat nav software sells for about ?70 on ebay.

            Same here.

In my old work place we used to have a work experiance kid once a week to look round the place & he pulled out a Gizmondo out during our lunch break. In a development studio with around 200 people workng that was the first time our department had ever seen one.

They dident appeal to casual gamers & had no games to appeal to the hardcore market. Mix that with one expenisve shop in London & bugger all advertising and you've got a failure.

It was on the cover of EDGE though wasent it?

              The best? No...

The best handheld would not fall on it's back and die in such a short lifetime.
OK so sometimes the best isn't most popular but I dont recall seeing anything remotely good that failed so miserably.

This console looks interesting but due to lack of games and that there are far more machines availble for homebrew, I would say it's a case of lost potential.

Mind you for ?30 I'd give it a go but ?130 def aint worth it

I've been hanging about shops waiting for a Giz at a decent price. A "decent price" for anephric would be sub-?40. Cheapest I've seen is ?50. And the pickings are only going to get slimmer, since they only made about 12 of them.

Do you know the full story? it was not the product that was the problem.

Oh and to answer your question yes Dreamcast.

The Gizmondo was not given a chance and by the time retailers started to stock it and give it a go problems started to arise, but again thats nothing to do with the software or the console.

I suggest you read the financial forum on www.gizmondoforums.com theres a few ex Gizmondo employees including the head to the Texas studio that was somehow left owing close to $1 million (though no fault of his own).

anephric HMV have been selling off theior stock for ?40 for a couple of months now, you maybe luck and nab one there.

Why not go for the comet deal ?99 for the console and the nav software tha twill feths ?70 on ebay resulting in you getting the console for ?30.

it's that bloody satnav that's the problem. i'm on another forum (god forbid) and a while ago someone on there was telling everyone that argos was getting shot of them at ?60 a piece with the satnav software (depending on the box, so the idea was to ask for another until you got one with the satnav) and people were saying things like 'wow i never would've thought of a gizmondo but satnav? yes please!'

the problem is that the Argos story is a lie. Argos never got stock of the sat Nav bundle. Only smart adds.

Not even the Dreamcast had that short of a life and had many more hits come on, theyre even still making the odd game!

Yeah, I've trawled around every HMV near me to see if there're Gizs, to no avail. I've got my eyes on one in an indie games shop but it's still hovering around the ?60 mark.

Maplins are still sticking them out for ?149.99 :/

Had i known then about the console ect i would have paid ?130 yes

AngelX i don't agree 1 bit. There is at least 3 must own games and a few that are very playable.

Add all the functions like MP3/4 camera/GPS/Satnav ect then its a real bargain.

David - Comet are doing the console with satnav software and a memory card for ?99.99 (satnav software sells for ?70+ on ebay).
It was 230 pounds here with nothing else - the 'smartads' version was cheaper at 130 pounds.
