That's why I said 'maybe' Snake will die.

After Kojima's constant speeches about leaving the MGS series after 4 (I know he's said the same since MGS2) and the trailer hinting at his death, I think he will die at the end. It will be a brave way to go out on.

Killing Snake off would also help stop the continuation of the series If Konami pushed for another sequel.

Something as trifling as death isn't enough to remove a character from the MGS series... they could simply give some poor schmuck a hair transplant using some of Snake's Legendary Locks, and he would be reborn as the man himself. Just like Ocelot's arm!

The majority of that trailer footage is from previous trailers, except for the end which makes yet another reference to Snake's suicide which I don't think is old.

Kojima did say he was a big fan of Call of Duty 4 so a hugely tragic ending is more than possible.

I think the title of this thread should be updated now, as the beta's been rescheduled for the 25, tomorrow.

I think that the beta is planned to start tomorrow, however, there is every possibility that it can change due to all the problems with their site and so on... So I have no idea if there's a set time for it to open yet.

So I guess we'll just have to wait and see if it gets postponed again, if not, then when you wake up in the morning it should be ready to play. Just make sure you've got a Konami ID and that patch downloaded ready for tomorrow (if you can).

Pretty hard to tell. Konami's website is fairly confusing. From what I can see it's either:

4pm tomorrow (Friday) or midnight Friday.

The Japanese konami site states that it goes live in japan at midnight on Friday night and at a 'similar time in foreign countries'. They are 8 hours ahead at the moment so if what they mean is "at the time the japanese servers go live so do the rest of the world" then that would mean a 4pm switch on tomorrow. If they instead mean "midnight on 25th in local time" then it's midnight Friday.

The problem now is that the hype has died down for this beta it seems. Partly due to the problems with Konami's registering service and the patch. And also partly due to the small fact of... GTAIV is coming out. I get the feeling the beta will be rather quiet.
