Hasn't this gone on enough now, im sure by now Ninty would have realised the bad stance towards the name, it's up to them now whether they are ignorant enough to stand by it or they push through a change.

So now we have two options -

a)They called it Wii because they believed all that PR cack. So the people responsible for the success of this machine are blind to the obvious and show serious lack of judgement.

or

b)They called it Wii for a laugh. It's funny. So the people responsible for the success of this machine are a bunch of clowns who love a good toilet joke.

I'm not sure which is worse. A name is just a name but their stance on this is revealing awful things about their simple lack of common sense.

I don't think it's like the diehard Nintend fanboys and fangirls would have us believe. The name isn't going to stink less with time simply due to the negative connotations that can so easily be associated with it.

I can understand why you are bored. All I can suggest is that you go to another thread. The shock will die down after a while, and it's not like we are making an issue out of nothing.

The name of a new machine, a machine as significant as this, is very important. Nintendo is a much loved company, lots of people want to see them succeed. Sadly.. the name Wii has shocked a lot of people and given them strong doubts Nintendo are on the right path.

The machine may be great, the games may be inspiring, but the name could really be an obstacle in convincing the ' Playstation Generation ' to take it seriously.

I hope Nintendo Japan are fully aware and prepared to do something positive!

We have small voices, but as one, Nintendo may hear us!

Of course it's about the games, and I will buy one whatever the name, but there are other issues beyond personal choice!

I really like the Gamecube and I hate people calling it a Kiddy machine etc... If anyone wants Nintendo to succeed they must surely realise the name Wii isn't a good move!

Even if it was called "C**t Cube" I'd still be looking forward to the games, that's not the point.

What is the point is that I'm not going to be able to praise the console or any games in public without people laughing at me. GAME staff are going to have a field day with this one. Infact, name me staff from anywhere that won't.

Another thing that's guaranteed is that the name isn't exactly going to help sales between the 8-15 yr old age group. No kid is going to want anything with such a geeky, foolish name - and rightly so too.

For me this is just further evidence that my own gaming preferences are becoming increasingly far removed from anything Nintendo related. I hate to use the term being 'too grown up' for Nintendo now, but thats how it feels, sadly enough.
